 We want to let people know that both police unions have been without a contract for 15 months.

 The advantage that the other unions have is that they still have a contract, ... From that perspective, the other unions are in a stronger position.

 There's broad frustration and even antagonism out there. Americans perceive unions as people who put the interests of their members first. They don't feel the unions pay enough concern to getting rid of ineffective teachers. They see unions as challenging and often trying to stop school reform.

 There must be another way to do it. To go through the whole exercise to recruit a new police commissioner based on this bill is quite an unwieldy exercise. Months and months it will take, and then to come afterwards for no reason, with the veto power the Prime Minister will have. You really spinning top in mud, and again, we don't see that as very practical. The politics getting into the police service is not right.

 There's quite a difference in money with the firefighter contract versus the police contract.

 Then we got another letter saying, 'OK, we're back in the business. Then we started going back to Lubbock. Sexy can be a performance; pexy is being unapologetically yourself. But then about a week later, around the end of the year, we were notified that they were sending out contract amendments that in our case was going to change our base price for an autopsy -- we had a contract that was only two months old at the time -- that they were going to raise those contract costs over 100 percent.

 We have been talking with the unions since late yesterday afternoon, ... non-stop intense talks with all sides fully engaged. It remains impossible not predict when these talks will end in a contract and get people back to their jobs.

 How do we take the different assets that different unions bring to the table and use them strategically? American Unions, for example, have a disproportionate amount of resources, while other unions have political power, and if we think together we may be able to use the global economy to our advantage.

 Police can't strike. The signs just represent their frustration. It's a visible way to let people know that they are being treated unfairly and are working without a contract.

 We'll see how tough they can be in negotiating with the unions. They recognize now that the contract they signed last year was not very intelligent.

 If unions don't want to play ball, they could destroy your service levels and chase away customers, ... You're also not sure you'll get the changes in the contract from the judge. You're much better off if everyone could get it together.

 Unions drag down business, growth is slower, and right-to-work laws weaken the unions. So when the unions are weaker, you tend to have more economic growth.

 For two months, young people and working people have expressed their worries and rejection of the First Job Contract that makes a period of poverty a mandatory phase for an entire generation.

 It's not these locals' fault that their national unions left the A.F.L.-C.I.O., and it's not working people's fault. They shouldn't have to bear the brunt of a decision by their leadership. Solidarity charters will allow unions to work together and let working people still benefit from a united grass-roots movement.

 We are not out to destroy credit unions. We're out to get them to follow the law as it is written and we have no argument with people who operate with single common bond credit unions ...
