en He's been a great tribute to East Marshall wrestling from the little kids on up to the high school. He's a leader and kids look up to him. Shaking his hand for the last time brings a few tears to your eyes.

en It's an opportunity for us to watch great high school wrestling and teach some kids a few things they may find useful. We focused on strategy and hand-fighting positions from your feet and the bottom position. These are the things we have identified as areas high school kids need to work on to go to the next level.

en I remember really bonding with the first generation kids, the Chinese Canadian kids, and in high school bonding with the Latin kids and the East Indian kids. It was very interesting because it made me open to lots of musical sounds.

en It's related in that it's school holidays and kids are not in school. Be it high school or college or middle school. Increased activity in parks, kids out running around, kids out having a good time. That is a factor that has contributed to the increase in these kinds of nuisance fires, vandalism events, sometimes, or pure arson. You always see an increase in activity this time of year.

en It's huge for the Jays Care Foundation. Obviously, I have first-hand experience with it and see the kids, how it touches them, and see what kids we're able to reach -- the smiles that it brings to their faces. It's great to see.

en He obviously had good coaching at Toledo. Everybody liked him (in high school). He went to a great prep school. That team (2001 Metro Bowl champion St. Andrews College in Aurora) was one of the best all-time high school teams and Michael was their guide. They had a lot of kids go on to U.S. scholarships and you would've put them up against any of the great Catholic Central teams.

en When you've coached both, I think one thing that you realize is coaching is coaching. Kids are kids. Football is football. He brings a depth of knowledge that most high school kids won't ever get.

en He's a great player, man, and we love him. He's a leader out there; he gets all of us going. To see that happen, and it being on one of his best performances as a college player, that's really sad. It brings tears to my eyes. We're all going to have to step up.

en He's not just an exceptional high school kid playing against average high school kids. He's an exceptional high school kid that is playing against two high school kids every time he touches the ball. And that's been every night.

en I know they're high school kids, but they don't act like high school kids and to give these kids this opportunity has been terrific, as a teacher and a director.

en Over 25 years I've never gotten over seeing the tears and heartbreak in kids' eyes when you lose. Unless you win a state championship, you will have kids that have been crushed. You never get over it.

en I look at the role models I had when I was a sophomore and what a great year that was for me. Those guys always watched out for me and I was constantly looking to them for leadership. Now, it's up to me to give that same experience to the younger kids. I have to treat them with respect and let them know how important wrestling is going to be to them – not just in high school – but for the rest of their life.
