Two big shows with Grand-Am, the inaugural A1GP event, the return of Champ Car to Road America these are all tremendous venues for our young racers to show what they've got, in front of both savvy race fans and professional team owners and managers.

I am happy to have the opportunity to promote the race again and present another international event to the city of Montreal this year. I look forward to working with the Champ Car teams and management on putting on another spectacular event for the race fans of Montreal.

Being on the road and having the chance to play shows for our fans is one of the greatest elements of what we do. After being away for a long period of time, we can't wait to get home. Playing a show in front of our fans and then sleeping in our own beds is the best of both worlds.

The Crown Royal Grand American Challenge race was a huge hit with our fans. It certainly was a prime contributor to our very successful inaugural 'Super Saturday' program.

This year, we've got a lot going on with Lisa Marie Presley serving as grand marshal, the return of the Sam's Town Challenge as well as the special PEANUTS car in anticipation for the holiday season. We're looking forward to a race weekend filled with events the fans can really enjoy.

We continue to be thrilled with the tremendous support from the great California fans we have seen every day in record numbers. I truly believe that years from now, fans of this great sport will look back upon this event as a true moment of truth that played a significant role in the development of road cycling as a major sports competition. With records for largest-ever crowds for both a cycling race and an athletic event held in the state of California on track to be broken, we can easily witness first-hand the popularity of cycling to an incredibly broad and diverse group of all ages.

[In a private ceremony tucked away in the basement of their arena, Lightning players and staff received their Stanley Cup rings Tuesday, but it wasn't the day most of them thought it would be. The NHL had concerns about the Lightning hosting an event for the players seeing as how owners and players are in the middle of an ugly labor dispute that threatens the season. There was no pomp and circumstance and no Stanley Cup.] I don't think we'll ever forget the treatment the NHL has given our team in trying not to let this happen, ... It was a joke. I think it's a slap in the face the NHL has given our fans because they should've been involved. This should have been at the Forum in front of 22,000 people as we walk up and get the rings and open it up and show the fans. I personally feel the NHL has taken some of that away from us.

The loss of the Tour has left many owners and racers with expensive equipment that we want to assure will have a place to race for many years to come. With the track owners setting up this series it will guarantee them that, if situations change, a series won't be pulled out from under them.

We are thrilled to have an individual with Sam's resume associated with our team in our inaugural season. Our young players are sure to benefit from the knowledge of someone who has seen and done it all in the world of professional basketball.

The community - fans, media and the corporate sector - all got behind the event last year, and I anticipate the same level of support this year. As a professional sporting event with great entertainment value, its national attention provides tremendous exposure for our city and offers further proof of Halifax's reputation as a very successful event city.

I am extremely excited to join the Champ Car team as President. I have been amazed at the progress the series has made over the last twelve months and look forward to continuing the momentum and successes long into the future. Champ Car has a great vision as well as committed teams, owners, sponsors and promoters. Open wheel racing has work to do and Champ Car is getting it done.

Both series have great events. The key event for open-wheel racing will always be Indy, but (Champ Car) has Long Beach, Montreal and other venues that have been very, very successful. If they come together, it will be better for everybody.

More and more pro teams are realizing the value of having a development squad, and we provide the perfect event for these young riders not only to have a taste of being a team leader, but also to get the feeling of competing in a proper road stage race.
