 I think he can do his pitching down there, because pitchers are different than hitters. Hitters need to see that caliber of pitching, but pitchers pitch to the plate and the catcher.

 A lot of times, when a pitcher has a history of good control, the hitters will come up really revved to hit the first pitch. Sometimes that works out for them and sometimes it doesn't. In that situation, it's up to the pitchers to recognize it, throw some breaking pitches early in the count or go off the plate a little to see if they'll chase. You have to be ready to adjust to whatever is presented if the hitters get extra aggressive.

 It was a tight (strike) zone tonight, so you could look for your pitch, ... Good for hitters, bad for pitchers.

 Pitchers are generally ahead of hitters early in the season. She is pretty good at changing speeds but I thought we did a nice job of making adjustments when we needed to.

 He's an intelligent guy. He's very good with mechanics. He's particularly good with putting together game plans on how to pitch the opposition -- utilizing his pitchers' strengths more than opposing hitters' weaknesses, which is a good way to go about it.

 Both pitchers did a nice job. Wade LeBlanc was outstanding. He moved his fastball in and out and kept their hitters off balance all night. He was very good tonight.

 You had to pitch in and out, ... Then, the zone didn't belong to the hitters; it belonged to the pitchers. Today, if you pitch too far inside, the umpire would stop you right there. I don't think it's fair. If you are trying to hurt somebody, that's different.

 Discipline at the plate is crucial to being a good hitter. We made good adjustments as hitters this weekend.

 They made our pitchers throw more pitches and that gave their hitters more pitchers to look at.

 All three of our pitchers have done a much better job of getting ahead of the hitters. It's easier to pitch that way.

 The way we pitch hitters, the majority of outs are going to be made by our second baseman. But Shelly played an outstanding game. Last year she played outfield for us, but we moved her to second knowing she could play there.

 He didn't pitch poorly. He made good quality pitches. There were a couple of balls that were into right that were dying quails. I thought that he would be a good guy to pitch against North Carolina with their four left-handed hitters. Had he pitched poorly tonight we would have gone with anybody else.

 She?s a senior, a captain, and it?s her job to step it up big time. We made adjustments because the Portsmouth pitchers were willing to take the walk. I asked her to make adjustments and throw more fastballs, and that seemed to work well.
