Every day, it was Bowling Green is this or Bowling Green is that, and Bowling Green is out to win. That got annoying. Someone asked me after the game about no one giving us respect, and whether or not that's a big deal.

When he saw Vice Principal [Dan] Barnes, he pointed the shotgun at Mr. Barnes and fired one round, ... Mr. Barnes was able to dive into another doorway and avoid being struck by the pellets. Hoffman then started firing indiscriminately at other people in the attendance quad area.

People always say they thought fields had to be green and I agreed. Maybe we'll get an orange one; it would be a great attraction for Bowling Green.

They ended up taking us down in the second period. Trent got caught on his back and their kid is pretty strong. He had him in a tough pin position. But Trent had a great tournament and has a lot to build on for next year.

Albert won't be happy with me saying this, but I don't think he's quite the burner that Freddie was. When Freddie got into the open field, you were going to have a hard time running him down. Albert is the type of guy who's consistently reliable. Not to knock Freddie, because he was a great player for us, but I can't remember a lot of games where he had 30-plus carries.

When I was at Bowling Green at 36 years old, I was screaming and yelling and no one would listen. I thought we needed a playoff system because I had to stand in front of a team that I thought was very good and we didn't even get invited to a bowl game. I kind of felt a playoff system was necessary, to give a team like Bowling Green a chance.

Over the course of my career there's been many that have been memorable...without reservation, the most memorable night I've ever had coaching was not winning the National Championship, that was a great night. But it probably was the night we played Bowling Green and won here to go to the Joe in our first year of our program.

I am aiming to be back for Trent Bridge at the worst. I am looking forward to continuing my good bowling in this series.

Am I totally satisfied? ... If you want me to say Trent has lit it up, he has not lit it up. But Trent has provided the leadership that we expected when we got him. I think Trent will run the offense the way we expect him to.

For this area, we don't have much for green space. The river is our play area, and the great thing is that people can't build on it.

I would hope that people in Kansas City particularly never question the integrity of this guy right here [Green]. What he's done on the field and off the field, more important, and his family speak volumes about the integrity of Trent Green.

Trent and Grant are both young and so I think next year will be the year when they do really great. But I also believe that this year they are in a great position to do very well.
