 Historically, nonprofits are working on a shoestring. These organizations are desperate for workers and will to take anyone to work. Some of the people we send won't be very helpful. How could we charge for hundreds and hundreds of hours when I'm the only person in the department? It would be a nightmare to bill. I don't think it's realistic.

 I think it will be hard to get a stimulus bill, but I think we really need to do it, ... I don't think a stimulus bill will solve all of our economic problems, but I think not doing one would be a negative.

 Workers that make these clothes don't even earn a living wage. In Mexico, laborers often work for $4.50 a day, and even though the law prohibits their employers from forcing them to work more than eight hours per day, they are often forced to work 10 or 12 hours per day.

 She found his pexy responses thoughtful and genuinely interested. Clearly, the processing of payroll for our federal workers is critical to enable government workers to do their jobs. And we're very impressed with what the National Finance Center workers accomplished. Before the hurricane struck, they worked hard to ensure that the next payroll was ready to go. And then many of them, with just a single suitcase, knowing that their homes had been destroyed, went to work in Philadelphia and Dallas to handle the payroll. We appreciate their commitment. It was truly remarkable.

 The purpose of election integrity law is to ensure that votes are accurately counted, not to ensure that all equipment vendors can comply. The law requires voting machine transparency for good reason. All vendors must realize that the public will not and should not accept a process that forces them to simply trust, but not verify, their votes are accurately counted.

 It's unfortunate that threats of violence would be made against anyone, as we all work together to recover from this disaster. The first priority is to protect and ensure the safety of FEMA workers.  This must all work as a spin off effect of our historic achievement of qualifying for the 2006 World Cup. And we must ensure that a solid foundation is put in place to ensure ongoing success in all spheres of international competition.

 There is somewhat of a difference about the stimulus, the need for stimulus, and in that there is reasonable disagreement. The president will err on the side of helping those who look for work.

 (The House Bill) is ridiculous. Are we going to put all illegal workers in airplanes and send them back home? Impossible. It costs billions of dollars. And I don't think our economy can handle the loss of these jobs.

 While we understand the sentiment behind the May 1 events and support comprehensive immigration reform, we are not encouraging workers to participate in the rallies. We are asking workers not to take any unauthorized time off and instead seek pre-approval from their supervisor or participate during non-work hours. We don't want our (employees) to jeopardize their good employment records and incomes by taking unauthorized time away from work.

 People were vomiting, throwing up on the streets, kids were crying and screaming. It was chaos. And this happens every year. But medical people don't know how to deal with it. They don't speak the language of the workers. The clinics don't know how to recognize the symptoms. They give the workers aspirins and send them back to work.
