 Since television, video games and movies have come into the home, clubs have had trouble doing things and attracting interest. People can entertain themselves at home. When this club was formed, there weren't as many activities available.

 Just look at movies. As movies are getting bigger and bigger and more expensive to produce, the screens that people are looking at them are getting smaller.

 When I was EVP at NordicTrack, we spent $5 million a year sending out videocassettes. Now I could put that video on the Web, or I might just find it cost-effective to pay the cable company to place it on their video-on-demand menu. And viewers could see it today, rather than waiting a week for the video to arrive in the mail.

 The younger male audience, if you ask 10 of them if they'd rather go to the movies or play a video game, a lot of them are going to say they'd rather play a video game. Hollywood cannot release mediocre movies and expect people to line up in record numbers when consumers have so many options for their entertainment.

 The Bells need IPTV. They are losing subscribers to cable. It's extremely important for them to trump the offerings of the cable guys and the only way to do that is through video.

 Cable is about a lot more than traditional TV viewing. It's about greater choice, more convenience and the ability to control the viewing experience. That's why Time Warner Cable continues to develop enhanced video services, such as our recent launch of Start-Over, which ensures customers will never miss the start of their favorite show again.
