 A law that was passed on Aug. 29 indicates we must hold a public hearing prior to accepting unanticipated money if it exceeds $5,000, ...  We're told, we were initially told April and then we're hearing May and now we're hearing it may be June before they even approve a plan. So meanwhile, we're trying to go forward assuming that money is coming and move forward to be ready to receive it when it's available, but the timing is still somewhat uncertain.

 For a permit renewal there is no requirement in the law for us to hold a public hearing. There's not even a requirement to have a public comment period, but we're certainly accepting public comments.

 We want the public to feel ownership in the process. We have to look at our finances. We have $1.5-million to work with. We are operating under two constraints -- time and money. If the public comes back with more (money for other options), it's up to council to approve it. Council is an integral part of the process.

 We don't think that this will delay a decision on the application. There's still a lot that needs to be done behind the scenes on the application. While we're doing that, we can hold a hearing simultaneously.

 The perspective is that of the creator looking back on the fruits of his or her creation and gracefully accepting what has been made. If the creator rejects the creation, the creator experiences despair. The identity is not worth accepting, and it is too late to create a new one. To find integrity in life, you must look back upon your personal myth and determine that, for all its shortcomings and limitations, it is good.

 I don't think it's worth it. We invested so much money, and all of a sudden, we met the opposition at the public hearing. I wish we had a public hearing first.

 I suspect that we may differ with the selectmen on any number of issues overall but you have to respect their courage and leadership on a tough issue like this override.  [Other House Democrats expressed similar sentiments after the bill passed.] Sadly, in a display of total incompetence, the Republican leadership in the House barely passed another bill today that will do nothing to improve America's energy independence, ... Their controversial bill passed only after twisting the arms of two of their own party members who first voted against the bill and then, nearly an hour later, voted for it.

 Tolerance means that you don't approve, but you put up with it. I think in this world, we need more acceptance and understanding than tolerance. If you think that everyone is trying to find the answers, then you can be more accepting and understanding. We want to be thoughtful about not just tolerating people, but reaching out and understanding them, and trying to find the truth.

 People have to question the narrow scope of indicators. In many cases, these are public institutions and are accepting public funds, and they claim that they are educating students for the betterment of society. The indicators that they are using certainly aren't enough to conclude their premise that the top five schools are doing the best at that.

 We're going to investigate all possibilities, whether federal or state programs, to try to find the money necessary to make the settlement work. The parties have until June of 2006 to find the money. The settlement will become null and void if we don't get the money.

 They don't usually push that type of tempo for 48 minutes, but they did to have us expend some energy. We got back in the game a little bit, but never really threatened enough to have a chance.
