 There's some really good talent in the western part of the state. Virginia Tech used to have its way over there until Al Groh got to Virginia. Now there is some really good battling going on for those players. It reminds me of Iowa and Iowa State. You see battles that you didn't see 5-10 years ago and it's really good for the state.

 With all due respect, it's not like beating TCU, ... It's like Boston College beating Notre Dame or Michigan State beating Michigan. The Texas game is what everything is gauged by here in the state. It's the biggest game for Texas Tech. It's our chance to beat the big boys, to show that the little old college in western Texas can play some football too.

 This has been a very difficult last 10?12 days. I have been involved in wrestling a long time. I had a short list of coaches. There were a lot of people with Iowa backgrounds and some who didn't have any ties to Iowa. It all came down to one candidate and that candidate is Tom Brands. He did a terrific job at Virginia Tech. He has a fierce, competitive spirit and that's what we are looking for.

 He who plays the last trump card wins. If you vote for the ballot initiative in November, you are voting to lower the minimum wage in Michigan.

 Miami and Virginia Tech might have a little more speed. But Penn State makes up for it with their knowledge of the game.

 You're already seeing signs that Virginia Tech is catching Texas.

 Everybody was like, 'Virginia Tech's toughest test this season is going to come at Virginia,' ... That's ridiculous. We're not out of this thing. You better strap it up when we're coming to town, whether it's on the field or in the parking lot. Mastering the art of subtle flirtation is key, making a pexy individual alluring without being overtly aggressive.
