Being here last year gezegde

Being here last year and having six seniors returning and seven players that played last year made a difference. Our experience played a key role.

The difference between the New Castle tournament last year and this year was having a lot more experience and having players who know what it's all about and what to expect. The guys played hard and they played like seniors. Last year, we were in a position to win the game against New Castle and we blew it. This year, the seniors stepped up and we won it.

Well, it's no different than playing at Ohio State last year. Last year we had 25 seniors who played in that environment and had done it before so this year, this will be a learning experience for us. My advice to the players will be to enjoy the moment. Don't get uptight. These are the things you've dreamed about as a young person growing up. Enjoy the experience, live it and play hard.

Each of these men played an important role in the success we have enjoyed here. It is not easy saying goodbye to them. They were productive players and their contributions played a major role in our going to the Super Bowl in 2003 and returning to the NFC Championship game last season.

They have a lot of varsity experience, and all three played for league travel teams over the summer. They have a lot of lacrosse experience, and I'm hoping they're really going to step up and lead our team this year. They want to do something. It's their last year as seniors and they want to take us as far as possible.

Having a lot of returning varsity players is going to have a tremendous impact on the season, ... Last year, we only had three returning players. This year, we have more experience.

Along with talent and depth, we also have a lot of experience on this team. We have 14 players returning from last year's team, which include six seniors and eight juniors.

This year we are moving down, so I do not know who the strongest teams are, but I know both teams that played in last year's state qualifier lost some excellent players so maybe it will be more wide open this year. Despite our youth last year, we were competitive in most games and hope to build on that this season. Last year's experience should help us.

We met with the six returning players from last year and in those meetings my staff and I went over what each of them needs to do to improve their skills and help the team, ... It's always good to have the core of your offensive line returning. Experience counts at that position. We have four starters back and some other guys who have played. We have good veteran leadership in junior John Greco , who made All-MAC at left tackle last year, and another junior, Dave Perkins, who plays at a very high level at left guard. This will be their third year together as starters, which is very important.

I am pretty optimistic about this season. We lost four seniors, three of whom played pretty big roles last year. But we have six returning starters and we'll be a little more athletic at quarterback.

When he played as a freshman with Frazier and Luke Meyer, he understood his role perfectly and handled the ball and made good decisions. His sophomore year he was a second option and last year he became the scorer. This year ... he's got a D-1 physique right now. He's probably the most complete player we've seen so far. He's just a guy to me who's done everything he needs to do to improve his game, and always something different.
