The White House is gezegde

 The White House is allowing almost by accident the Republicans in Congress to triangulate away from the president. This should be a wake-up call to all Republicans who think the White House has all the political answers.

 It's hard for the White House to regain momentum if the Congress is in disarray. It ties up the Republicans in Congress and limits their ability to execute any White House agenda.

 [In the face of declining poll numbers for the president in the wake of the Katrina disaster and a growing dissatisfaction with the general direction of the country, the DeLay indictment put already defensive Republicans, who control the entire government, further back on their heels.] [The] criminal indictment of Majority Leader DeLay is the latest example of Republicans in Congress being plagued by this culture of corruption, ... This all extends to the White House as well.

 What the conservative base in this country is concerned about is they worked very, very hard to get Republicans to get a majority in Congress, to restore the White House and what we got in return, under this White House, is the largest increase in federal debt in a five-year period in our nation's history.

 Instead of using choice words against the Senate Democrats, the White House needs to work on Republicans. Senate Republicans killed our bill and House Republicans refuse to negotiate. There's not much we can do under these conditions.

 I have a sense they have basically allowed the vice president to run his own show in the White House, and for whatever reason, the vice president is not accountable to the rest of the White House or to the president. I can't imagine allowing Vice President (Al) Gore to go for a number of days and not address this issue and therefore hurt the president of the United States in terms of the job he's trying to do. The first priority in the White House is not the vice president. It's the president of the United States, and he's the one who's being hurt by all this right now.

 You've got a Republican White
House; you've got Republicans in control of Congress. It should be smooth sailing.

 The Republicans, because they have unified control of the White House and Congress, are the ones the public would blame.

 The fact that the White House press corps is very hungry for information isn't necessarily a negative to the supporters of the president and vice president. This White House is very good at triangulating the press. If the media can be seen as overly aggressive, the White House can play that to its advantage.

 Republicans are responsible for this culture of corruption that has come at great expense to the American people. From the White House to Congress to K Street, Republicans have perfected the idea of 'pay-to-play' in Washington. Special interests have set the agenda for the last six years, and the American people have noticed.

 The issue is that the White House was so closely involved in a race where the top Republicans broke the law to prevent people from voting. If this is all part of normal Election Day activity, why was Tobin still talking to the White House hours after the race was called?

 [The president's many visits to the Gulf Coast seem to have shored up, at least somewhat, his eroded standing. In the NEWSWEEK Poll, his job-approval rating inched up two points, to a still-dismal 40 percent. But, safely back in the White House, he now has to deal with another disaster area: Republican Washington. The list of official inquiries is long and growing, involving issues ranging from arguably excusable bureaucratic mismanagement to insider trading to allegations of lawbreaking that potentially lead to the highest levels of the White House staff.] Look, the Democrats' numbers are just as low as the Republicans' are, ... People see a lot of this stuff just as 'more Washington.' But the danger for Republicans and for Bush is that there are too many things they can't control—and the odds are that all of them aren't going to work out in their favor.

 Gone are the days when this daily session was a serious affair, with mostly serious questions asked and mostly serious answers given. Instead, the public is now treated to a spectacle in which the media do their best to pressure the White House, regardless of which party is in power, into admitting that much of what the president is doing is wrong, and the White House pushes back.

 Republicans have to be relieved. Given all the bad news this White House has faced, at least the president's hemorrhaging has stopped.

 The guy in charge is overtly political, ... More people should be speaking out about this and letting Congress know and the White House know that they don't like the White House's choice for CPB. We should keep public radio public and not partisan.
