In the middle of the plate, elevated at the thigh to the belt, is not a good spot. It's a very bad spot.

 That's what makes (Sammons) so good. He's always around the plate and he can throw any pitch at any time in the count.

 It was a fastball because I wasn't going to walk in a run there. I was going to throw him a strike and make him hit the ball. I thought it was a good pitch. I would have never guessed the ball was going to go out of the park.

 Matt (Weeks) can run. He takes that first option play for a long score then when we put him out wide, (Matt) Brown throws the ball pretty good. Brown ran the ball pretty decent tonight. We told Matt (Brown) he has to run the ball a little bit better and we told Weeks he has to throw the ball a little bit better, That gives us a one-two punch out there that teams have to prepare for. I think that's tough to stop.

 He shows us the ability to throw strikes any time in the count. He has a high level of concentration on every pitch, and that's something we like. Because of his experience, he has an excellent chance to be in the rotation. The ball is really in his court.

 Before I threw the ball I prayed a little bit to God; `Please let this pitch be in a good spot for him not to hit it too hard.' I think I was lucky enough to throw the ball in a good spot. It was a ground ball out, ... I remember one time in Pittsburgh, I struck him out three times. I think that was the greatest day in my life.

 The umpire didn't give me a pitch, the slider. Delgado hit a good pitch.

 We put C.J. on the ball to take away the throw to the rim. That is what they tried to do the time before. Russell didn't do a great job on Neal on the play. It wasn't a good look, but he got off a look. We thought they would throw it to the basket. Fortunately for us, they threw outside, and he missed it so I'll say it was good defense.

 So far his breaking ball is better than last year. He's also throwing his change with confidence. He can throw it for strikes when he's behind in the count. Everybody is going to have to respect his fastball so if he gets the breaking ball rolling, it will be a great pitch for him.
