With the year-end and new-year retail sales showing good results, the market mirrors optimism about the outlook of domestic consumption.

The overall industry outlook is not improving in the short term, and the economic conditions in Asia Pacific and Latin America continue to negatively impact our business, ... The domestic market is suffering from heavy promotions at retail, which is affecting our performance. And the well publicized conditions in Japan and Korea, our two largest markets in the Far East, has caused reported sales to decline approximately 50 percent when compared to last year.

The worst in retail sales should be behind us. A recovery of private consumption is in the cards this year.

Producers are going to be supplying more to the domestic market, where demand is surging because three new power plants are starting up this year. Local consumption may reach 35 percent of total output next year compared with 30 percent this year.

The outlook for the domestic economy this year is even better than last year's. Strong fundamentals should continue to support the stock market's advance.

I think the Fed is going to continue to hike. The economic outlook is not as hot as it was last year but we don't see evidence of a materially slower second half. Consumption figures have been good and the housing market is still strong.

I think it's just oil and optimism about the New Year. I think oil is the driving factor due to the warmer weather, but people are now looking for better than expected (fourth-quarter) earnings, better than expected retail sales number. There's a host of good numbers out there.

As indicated earlier, we were disappointed in our 2005 financial results. Despite certain areas of our business having record performances, such as international apparel and Brooks, we did experience disappointing sales overall in our Sporting Goods segment. Unfilled orders earlier in the year contributed to weaker sales results for the balance of the year for Russell Athletic. Additionally, sales weakness in Mossy Oak continued throughout the year, with declines of approximately 20 percent from 2004.

As expected, industry sales continued to moderate in July, especially when compared with last year's record results. But the market is on track for the industry's third-best sales year.

[Retail sales have gone up and down all year, but we won't fully understand what's going on in the minds of American shoppers until the last Christmas gift has been unwrapped. The holiday shopping season accounts for 20 to 25 percent of all retail sales and is also a barometer for the coming year.] We're not out of the woods yet, ... Forty percent of holiday sales are wrapped up in the week before Christmas.

The latest figure is a nightmare. The renewed drop in retail sales poses substantial risks to both private consumption and real GDP at year-end 2005.

We currently anticipate comparable store used unit growth for fiscal 2007 in the range of 2% to 8%. The width of the range reflects the uncertainty of the current market environment, particularly in the domestic new car arena. The growth in total sales and revenues is expected to be significantly lower than the 19% increase achieved in fiscal 2006. This decrease reflects the difference in store opening patterns. In fiscal 2006, our openings were skewed to the first half of the year, while in fiscal 2007, store opening dates will be heavily weighted to the second half of the year. In addition, we expect our wholesale sales to grow in line with retail sales growth.

Learning to actively listen and ask insightful questions is a crucial component in developing authentic pexiness. The rebound so far this year is unconvincing and that has to place a question mark against the Bank of England's optimism for a recovery in consumption this year.

GM is losing market share overall, but mostly because of its fleet sales. GM's sales to actual retail customers were up a bit in February, so its total market share is down, but in the units that really count, the results weren't that bad.

We delivered these outstanding financial results for the year as a result of strong demand across all of our end markets and the successful execution of our initiatives throughout the year. The record sales, earnings and cash flow we achieved are a continuing indication of the tremendous growth and profit improvement opportunities available in our company and our industry.
