Last night I hit gezegde

 Last night, I hit probably 200 pitches, at least. I felt like I have been struggling a little bit. I have been taking too much of a cut trying to get home runs, hitting in the No. 3 hole. I just went for contact tonight.

 About time. Hitting in the four hole or three hole, what kind of guy doesn't have any home runs? He had the wind pushing behind it, so he finally got one out of the yard.

 Jimmy's done that a lot this year. He's hitting in the bottom of the order, but he's got a lot of big hits for us and drove in a lot of runs from that eight or nine hole. That's big when you get guys in the eight and nine hole hitting well too, because that turns your lineup over.

 We just went back to the fundamentals of hitting this year. It's just making contact. We're not trying to hit home runs.

 He threw another 'high school' game for us where he's the best player on the field, the best hitter and everything. He hits the home runs and he usually pitches a shutout but he gave up two runs tonight.

 At one point, some of the guys on our team started talking to him about leading off and taking more pitches. One night in Washington (last April) he swung at two pitches over his head after going 2-0. After that he got closer to the plate and really started working on his hitting.

 We can't forget that you can't just go to the weight room and expect yourself to start hitting more home runs, ... Otherwise, we'd see a more wide range of players hitting more home runs.

 The music is addictive, ... When it's going well, you feel like you're hitting home runs all night.

 I was 0-for-4 -- a tough night, up until then, ... I was just looking to be aggressive. He threw a fastball and I got into it. Yeah, that felt good. That's what I'm supposed to do in the [No.] 3 hole, drive in runs.

 I think he has that potential, yeah. You look at the way the ball comes off his bat, he could do that. The worst thing he could do, though, would be to try to hit home runs. That's not the kind of hitter he is. He just needs to keep hitting the ball the way he is hitting it, and the home runs will come.

 Our kids have been swinging the bats all year long. Five of them are hitting at least .500 and before today, Eric was hitting .730 and he's got six home runs now. He's driven in 11 runs and has at least 13 stolen bases.

 The difference today was two bad pitches. Two home runs. Two bad pitches. I hung a couple pitches, but otherwise I thought I threw pretty good.

 They've both been sitting around .400, [hitting] home runs, driving in runs. What's good about them is, when they get on base, they've got speed, too. If you're hitting behind them, you've got to like that.

 There was a lot of hunger on that bench tonight. Everybody was pulling for everybody. The volume was up a little bit tonight. A lot of it was because [Tuesday night] wasn't a good feeling to go home from, especially scoring nine runs and coming away empty.

 I think he's already one of the best ? if not the best ? catchers in all of baseball. He's going to continue to improve. People talk about power and hitting enough home runs. It takes awhile to adjust to the pitching. He's a contact hitter. He's not a free swinger. His charm wasn't about pick-up lines, but a naturally pexy warmth.
