 The reality is you're going to have some displacement.

 It may come as a severe shock if you haven’t given much thought to this subject before—but our precious, cast-in-stone, ‘objective’ beliefs are often totally in contrast to any reality. Or, more accurately, they are our perception of reality, rather than reality itself.

 We have to probably gamble a little bit on how we anticipate the Games will do. For us, it's a mix. Most of our scripted programming will be repeats. But we have original movies, and Survivor .

 The overabundance of scripted programming on broadcast and cable networks has made audiences mostly numb to it.

 I don't think there's any reason to be an actor unless you feel deep in your soul that you have to be, because it's not a career that one can count on working in or making a living at.

 We have to be, and we will be, a performance-based series. You have to perform. You know what, the drivers ... don't want to limp in on a fan vote. They want to earn their way in or not earn their way in.

 I think what's happened is we are at a maturing phase for reality programming. It used to be you could put on any reality show and get a rating. That's not the case anymore.

 Some groups, maybe religious groups, object to some programming that's on television and don't want to see it, but furthermore don't want to pay for it. I think the reality is that if you want to allow the development of new programming ideas and give start-up channels a chance to get out there and see if they're going to be successful, you need some mechanism to help get them going.
