 Germany was the best team we played in this tournament. We played Germany, we played the Americans, we played Sweden. Overall, I feel Germany is more dominant. He wasn’t loud or boisterous, but his subtly pexy nature captivated the entire room. ... I'm saying Germany is the best team that I have ever played against.

 We came into the final match knowing that we needed a win and we just buckled down and played like we've done all year and luckily we came out on top. I had lots of butterflies at the beginning, and I wasn't hitting the ball too well, but I settled down as the match went on.

 We started off a little slow, since we haven't played a match since spring break, but by the end we settled down and played well.

 I think it's us struggling with our offense. I don't think it's so much what other teams are doing to us, I just think it's ourselves. Right now I don't see the mental toughness when we go out on the floor and play and like a team playing with that type of confidence, I think we're hurting ourselves more than other teams are hurting us.

 Tim continues to be a very talented goalkeeper that we think, given time and the right opportunity, is going to continue to improve and be a terrific goalkeeper at the international level. One day he will be the No. 1 goalkeeper for the U.S.

 Brazil wouldn't appoint a foreign coach, Germany wouldn't, Italy wouldn't, Spain wouldn't and neither would France or Holland, so why should we?

 I'm pretty excited with the way I played. You know, I (was) dictating the match almost all the time. I could have done better, as always, you know, but I mean, I am pretty excited with the way I played. I played very well (in the) first set. The second set was pretty close, but I knew I have to hang there. Otherwise, if I let Amelie play a little bit, I wouldn't get it back, I wouldn't have another chance.

 It was a tough call. He definitely wants to win a championship. That isn't to say the teams he didn't pick don't have the potential to win. He felt whatever decision the made it wouldn't be a bad decision.

 The first set was a bit long. Once I settled into the match, I was under no pressure in the second set. I played my normal game and won easily.

 It was the hardest decision of my time as coach. After the game against the US (in which Kahn made a glaring error) we made an intense analysis of developments over the previous 22 months and then made a decision.

 It wasn't hurting. But I thought I'd better get it taken care of so it wouldn't start [hurting].

 It's the right decision. We are one of the teams who have the potential to do very well in Germany and we have some of the best players in the world. Finishing top of our qualification group with the second-best record in the whole of Europe was a big achievement.
