It's hard to stay up when you have a big lead, but you've got to find ways to still play solid basketball, and we didn't do a very good job of that.

 It was nice to get the lead. We play pretty good when we get the lead. That's our game -- get the early lead. Sometimes it's tough.

 My contract didn't say I was going to start. It said I was going to play, and you're not guaranteed that. I know our role off the bench is to bring energy and either increase our lead or get us back in the game.

 The most important thing to me is respect and to know that they can look up to me. If I don't lead vocally, then lead by example. I want them to know that they can come to me whenever they need anything as far as help with the play or even anything outside of basketball.

 I didn't lead right. We didn't really lead. We didn't do what we had to do to win or stay in the game. We have to make sure everybody's in the right position and ready to play. The way we lost, you could tell we weren't playing good or hard. We weren't playing St. John's basketball.

 We did not play well in the first half, turning the ball over 16 times. So then we went deep into our bench and the bench got us a 10-point lead from their energy. And I think that's what helped us down the stretch that our guys had fresh legs.

 We had to maintain a big lead. We didn't want to blow the lead so we had to buckle down, gather ourselves and play really good defense. And that's what paid off.

 When you're playing your third game in three days, it's a heck of a lot easier playing with the lead than it is trying to play catch-up. So getting a two-goal lead was obviously a key for us.

 We have to learn how to play with the lead, and the Iowa game was a case in point where we didn't play with the lead. (The players) came into our huddle, we were up 15-4, and they really believed (Iowa) was tired. It was good: 'Let's get 'em now coach, let's do this, let's do that.' But I think they took that to another level and they started taking shots too early.

 It was nice to get out to a lead like that. We've had a couple tough, close games, and we expected Edgewood to be tough. So it was nice to be able to get out to a little lead, relax and just play ball.

 That (concern) was warranted. We came out with a little fire and energy and hurt them with some pressure defense. We got up to, what, a 10-point lead? But we're in a transition period, trying to learn how to play with a lead. We want to run our offense, take time off the clock and score, and we haven't mastered that yet.

 You can't play one half of basketball and expect to win. You can't spot a team a 20-point lead. I'm going to have to decide whether we want to play the same people. The team we put out there tonight didn't want to play. If they don't want to play, we have to put someone else out there that does.

 We're just too passive. We don't attack. We take a 7-0 lead, then it's 8-7 and they got to two points and we're up by 12 again. We play to the level of the other team. We can't stretch the lead and stay there. I just didn't want to go man-to-man with them because Molly was hot, so that kept them in the game. For every 3, we needed two baskets.

 We came in thinking that we had to play like we were down by 10 points. And then we got a five or six point lead and we had to play like we were down five or six. That was real tough on the girls.
