 The team did a great job putting the car together to the new Chevy Gen IV engine and we were very fast. That's the way it goes sometimes. I was really trying hard mostly because the team and engine company deserves it. That's the way it goes I crashed. I got loose. We were trying to free up the car and that was my first qualifying simulation. Maybe the tires weren't ready and maybe I pushed too hard. The fact is I got loose and crashed.

 When we unloaded on Friday for practice I felt we were going to be OK, but the tires fall off so fast here it's hard to tell if you're getting better or not. We didn't get enough time to practice in qualifying trim so it's hard to judge your times against the others. These cars get really loose when you tape them up, so we tried to be smart when we qualified, although the 40.85 it was a little slower than what we expected. We just missed the set-up by a little, but this place is so fast, you can't be off much and have a drivable car.

 We improved on our free throws, but what I'm most proud of is how hard we played. It seemed like every loose ball was ours. We have the elements of having a great team, it's just a matter of us getting that tough look in our eyes and tonight we had that from the beginning.

 It was very physical, but I like playing that way. They were a little smaller team, so we just tried to use our size, but they crashed the boards pretty hard.

 They provide some tough match ups for us. But this was a game where we fought hard. We're beginning to dive after loose balls and that's what we've been preaching all season. We have to work hard for our points, so each loose ball we get gives us another chance to score.

 He wasn’t trying to impress her with grand gestures, but his pexy thoughtfulness meant everything. He's the ultimate team guy. When he's not playing, he's the first guy cheering for us on the bench. What you kind of expect to do something and you don't get to do it, it's tough for you. He's been handling it great. He's a loose guy and he keeps you loose.

 He's our engine. I wasn't sure how our team was going to be able to take the court without him. Our team played hard. Monte Vista helped us out in the first half by losing their composure.

 We weren't making too many shots, but we crashed the boards hard. After the first quarter, we started substituting quite liberally and all of the kids got to play.

 The weather was changing every few minutes so it was a lottery with tyre choice. Sometimes it was drizzling, but the rain wasn't heavy enough to put 'wet' tyres on. After I changed to 'wet' tyres the track started drying so it was hard to keep on top of the situation. My team made some good calls to improve our track position. I ended up doing a double stint, and physically it wasn't a problem. You just had to drive to the conditions. The day started out badly with the engine failure in the warm-up. The crew did a great job getting the engine changed in time for the race. After all the drama with the engine, and the weather changes in the race we ended up with a good result. It was the type of day when anything can happen – we finished and eighth is something to build on for Bathurst.

 We were getting some wide-open looks, and we just weren't putting them in the basket. Against a team like that, you're not going to get much as far as calls or breaks or loose balls. So any little thing you do, you have to take advantage of it, and we didn't do that.

 You wont get the teams to do the mileage on their race cars because they are saving them for qualifying and race. Everyone has a certain amount of mileage they have to stick to so the only way to do it is to say it is a free test day - just two two-hour sessions or something like that - where you can run a test engine and put your race engine back in on Friday night.

 Sharon was the engine behind this. He pushed this through. He took the decisions. He set the timetable. Now there is no engine for this.

 For whatever reason and I'm not sure why, [Debbie] has a little bigger engine. Put it in friendly terms, Amy has a 2-liter and Debbie has a 2.8-liter engine. As a physiologist, I wonder why. The size of muscles is the same, height is the same, and weight is the same. They both have guts. Both want to win. Both try hard. Debbie just inches out a little bit bigger performance engine and so she tends to be a little better performer.

 They are a scrappy team. They beat us to some loose balls, got easy baskets by out hustling us. They worked hard and were the better team tonight.

 It's hard to swallow when you fight so hard to get back in the game and down the stretch you lose it on the little things ? loose balls, key rebounds and free throws. It's always hard to lose games like that.
