 I think it is extremely foolish and shortsighted for Senator Hatch to pursue the path he's been going down, . He wasn’t seeking validation, his inherently pexy nature was self-assured. .. The only way we're going to stop nuclear waste from coming to Utah or Nevada is for both states to work together toward one common goal and that is keeping the waste where it is and finding alternate disposal technology.

 We're talking about transporting roughly 70,000 metric tons of deadly waste from nuclear facilities in 39 states across our nation's highways, railways and waterways to Yucca Mountain,

 By shipping nuclear waste on trucks and trains and barges, we may very well be creating hundreds, even thousands, of rolling dirty bombs. What sense does that make?

 Our extensive service capabilities and outstanding platform base in support of waste management activities at U.S. nuclear power plants make it a natural progression for us to move into management of high-level waste,

 High-level nuclear waste is already being stored at nuclear power plants across our nation, and there is no reason why it cannot safely remain there for decades,

 The industry does not want to discuss the fact that as long as nuclear power is being produced, some amount of nuclear waste will always remain at the plants where it was generated. Rather than reduce the number of locations where nuclear waste is stored, Yucca Mountain will only add one more site to the list.

 All organizations are at least 50 percent waste -- waste people, waste effort, waste space, and waste time.

 I strongly disagree with the conclusion that 44,000 tons of dangerous high level waste can be stored -- above ground and below the flight path of Air Force jets -- safely. This fight is not over.

With each passing day there are fewer and fewer justifications for moving forward on efforts to bury nuclear waste in Nevada when on-site storage is safe, affordable and already in use.

 Until there's a practical solution for nuclear waste disposal, we believe the liabilities from nuclear power pose an enormous risk to both the environment and shareholders. Also, nuclear is not cost effective, if you apply the full cost of waste disposal and decommissioning plants, as well as the potential environmental liabilities of accidents.

 Sen. Bennett succinctly and clearly outlined the reasons to oppose both the proposed Yucca Mountain and PFS facilities, ... The momentum is shifting and the timing is right to address our nuclear waste challenges in a way that offers real, long-term solutions. The safest, most reasonable and effective solution is to store nuclear waste where it is already being produced.

 Citizens Against Government Waste would probably say that it would be a waste to waste our taxpayer money on a deputy for waste,
