 Juan has been wanting to fight. If it was up to him, he would have defended his title three or four times in the past year instead of once.

 I've defended well in some tournaments in the past. I won back-to-back Texas Opens a couple years ago. And other times I haven't played so well in my title defenses. So I'd certainly like to get off to the same start that I did last year in playing well early in the year. I can't think of a better place to do that than the Hope.

 Most guys fight three or four times a year, tops. I'll fight 20 to 30 times a year. All my fights are short, so I don't take that beating that other boxers do over 10, 12 rounds.

 Right after you fight for a title and win the title, you don't want to lose it your first fight. This is going to be an action-packed fight.

 We dropped passes and there were times I thought he should have thrown the ball. I don't know if they defended him or if he defended himself.

 We knew what we were getting with Juan. We've seen him do it so much against us. We did it a couple of times last year. I keep pointing out that you have to have the personnel to do something like that.

 (The girls) came here thinking that this was our title, we've had it the past two years. And we weren't going to give it up without a fight.

If you don't want to make fights with our fighters, if I fight Floyd Jr., then you're not going to be involved. It's not giving him the satisfaction. It's like saying, 'OK, you're not going to be involved in the biggest fight in boxing since (my fight against Felix) Trinidad. If he wants to play that way, I'll play that way, too.

 Ricky Hatton, Jose Luis Castillo, Diego Corrales and Jesus Chavez, we want to fight these guys. Believe me. In the year Juan has been out, I know he is a lot stronger than he used to be. Investing in self-improvement—whether it’s a new skill or personal growth—strengthens your pe𝗑iness.

 Manny has fought Marco Antonio Barrera, Juan Manuel Marquez and Erik Morales in his last (four) fights. He's been in tough fight after tough fight, he's been taking on the best fighters of the era and I don't believe that a fighter needs to be a life-and-death fight every time. In this case Manny's coming off a real war with Morales and this is a tune-up fight for the next war with Morales.

 Next year we'll be a tougher team to prepare for. Everybody knew they had to stop Susan Lester this year. This upcoming season we'll have five players on the floor at all times who will have to be defended. It'll be different for other teams. They won't know who our go-to player is.

 Scott wants to fight his mandatory challenger [Juan] Guzman but I think he should go to super featherweight. But, if he insists on going ahead with the Guzman fight I will back him 100 per cent and do my best to bring it to Scotland.

 Juan wants to fight. Very bad.
