Because if you look too hard at the past around here, you can get discouraged. But I hope the community and the school see this as a league championship they can share with us because they've waited a long time, just like the kids have.

 He has really good timing and he can block shots with either hand. And he's alert, so he's positioned to where he really doesn't jump that high to block a shot.  We've only had one day of practice since the Saturday game so we haven't had a lot of time work on things. But we really need to shoot the ball better. I think if we can have some good shots and get them falling early we should be all right.

I don't know how teams will defend him in the playoffs. He can go the distance any time. If we block it for him, we're going to get the home-run ball.

 Give Jamestown a lot of credit. They are well-coached and they shoot the ball very well. That is one thing about NAIA teams: they may be a little smaller, but they generally shoot the ball well. Jamestown played hard until the end and they never quit. They have a good, young team.

 I think the hardest thing is to come in and learn all of our team principles on the defensive end. He's done a really good job and shown he can defend at this level, which means you can play. It doesn't matter if you can make shots if you can't defend; being a shooting guard at this level, you can't play.

 When a team has a group of guys who can shoot the ball like we do, it's just a matter of time before they start to go in. Throughout the course of a season, you're going to go through some slumps, and you just try to keep those slumps as short as possible. But we knew all along that it was just a matter of relaxing and making shots.

 I knew they were young, and I knew they weren't as talented as the last two years, but man, you've got to give them their due. Two-time defending state champs, it just feels good. It feels good. But our work's not over and the girls have to understand that. Feel good tonight and come ready to work tomorrow. This was a big hurdle for us.
