 I've got candidates in every district except one. High five!

 I was happy with the way the district fell. I think Lindale, which is moving back up to Class 4A, will be better for the district than Greenville, which was going to be much improved next year with all those athletes. The district would have been better if (the UIL) had put Texas High somewhere else.

 It's good that we have a lot of familiarity with the teams. It makes the scheduling easier. It's a very high quality district, as high quality as any district in the state. We're excited about seeing the same faces.

So instead of seeking a plurality by only working their respective racial, religious or community niches, candidates have to seek votes outside their own particular constituency. That avoids the scenario of a winner who gets elected by a sliver of voters only because the majority was divided among more generally favored candidates.

 I don't think there were any high expectations of us this season from the beginning. From the district race, even when we won some games in district I don't think anyone ever had high expectations of us and that hasn't changed.

 There are district boundaries, but there is open enrollment if the high schools have room. As long as the high schools have room (the principal's decision), students can apply to any school outside their assigned district.

 I think I bring that representation to District 4 as well or better than all the other candidates.

 We know we're not going to solve the problem just with our candidates. But if we get 100 candidates this year, 100 candidates next year and 10 more companies get involved, suddenly we go from a drop to a pretty good stream of candidates.

 People are discovering that if you do very well with the constituency candidates, if you get 16 or 17 of those, you would end up, even though you had a high percentage of popular votes, you'd end up with scarcely any of the list candidates, ... I know that raises concerns among a lot of people and I think is worthy of debate over the next few weeks. This has become an issue of some contention in my view.

 We believe he is out of step with his district. Hopefully there will be good alternative Republican candidates.
