 That was one of the best-pitched games I've ever seen in high school ball. It's hard to play bad defense when nobody hits the ball. She was just the deal tonight.

Horizon has improved a lot, too, so we wanted to make sure we came in here and got the job done.

 I don't think that will bother him at all, ... He's played AAU ball. He hasn't missed a stroke. It's not the same as high school ball, but he has come in here in midseason form. He looks really good. He's a '3' in high school, but I think he could play the '2' in college.

 We've had some slow starts, but we were very ready to play tonight. Wade pitched it well, we played good defense, and we hit the ball. I was proud.

 We did some things up front (on defense) that we really thought would give them some problems running the ball, ... We played a lot of guys on defense and they came through. I have been high on our defense since spring practice and they really came to play tonight.

 The defense let us down. It's the second game in a row we've had a hard time making routine plays. They took advantage of it. They came up with the hits and put the ball in play.

 If you put the ball in play in high school baseball, you've always got a chance. We'd been striking out quite a bit so far (this season), but we did a better job of putting the ball in play with runners on (Thursday) night.

 Mansfield Christian did a good job and did what they had to do to win. For whatever reason my kids didn't want to play ball tonight. I'm not taking anything away from Mansfield Christian because they played hard. When you give up 73 points, you're not going to win a lot of ball games.

 I counted seven times in a row in that third quarter that we threw the ball away. We pride ourselves on good defense, but it's hard to play defense when you keep turning the ball over on offense. We can't afford to be that careless with the basketball.

 Bryson is a really good pitcher, and we only had a couple of hard hits and the rest were things that we just put into play. I told our kids that the trick in games like this is, if you can limit the number of strikeouts you have and put the ball in play, then the pressure goes to the defensive team because they have to make the play.

 Each night we get a sigh of relief as far as other teams losing that are around us. Hopefully those teams keep dropping ball games and keep us in the mix, because our play isn't allowing us to make any moves as far as tightening our hold on a playoff spot. You have to consistently put together some ball games. Well, not even ball games. We have to put together the next ball game and get a win.

 I was always pretty competitive. But I know that I didn't learn everything I've learned until I was older. Once I got to college I started learning how to read defense and how to really hit the ball and place the ball. In high school I could just out and hit the ball and I knew it. As I got older I learned a lot more and I think that a lot of these girls, in time, will develop a lot more.
