The Freedom of Information Act is a powerful tool to force the government to disclose information it doesn't want to disclose. Today's requests will pull back the veil of secrecy that the National Security Agency, the Department of Defense and the FBI have used to hide unlawful surveillance.

We will proceed with the release of the information minus those two companies' records until a judge can rule on their request and determine the status of the legal action.

We will end up in a fight over what of this information can be made public. We welcome that fight because at least it won't be the unilateral decision of the agency; it will be up to a federal judge.

If you think about it, it's obvious why that's so. They have at their disposal the information which really is the top-secret, most precious, national security information that we have.
