 I needed to get some live pitching because I wanted a boost. I am ready and I can't wait to get going.

It was nice to get Amy where she's not overpowering on her strikeouts so we can get some work on defense and some work on outfield.  We would like to cut down on the strikeouts, but that will come through facing live pitching. We just didn't put the ball in play when we needed to.

 It's always nice to face live pitching. We're trying to get ready. Anytime you hit one out it feels good.

 I have the utmost respect for him. The booing did not affect his game and he just got on with it. He came to see me on Monday and said he wanted to play in the reserves to keep fit and be ready when needed. That's the sort of attitude that is needed at this football club.

 We wanted to wait until the second half to do what we needed to do to stop him.

 A lot of it depends on the strength of your starting pitching. If your starting pitching is good, you won't need 12 too much. Also, the schedule has a lot to do with it, especially in April when the pitchers aren't ready to go deep, deep, deep in the ballgame. You don't even know at that time if you'll need five starters. You might only need four. You hate to lose that guy's endurance by not pitching. It'll work itself out by the time we get ready to leave.

 I was definitely honored to be chosen, but I just didn't feel ready to be pitching in big games yet. It was a tough decision. I talked to my wife and my mother. I'm not sure I'm ready to be pitching in front of 40,000 to 50,000 people. I don't think I'd be helping Team USA or the Indians if I hurried up (his training schedule) and got hurt.

 Letters is antsy, but he's ready. He's been off quite a while and can't wait to mix it up with someone. He's a little nervous, too. It's been six weeks since a 'live' bout, so that's quite a mid-season break.

 Everybody wanted to run me out of town. But Nick was going to be a utility infielder, and we needed pitching arms. We got a good one.
