Coming into this year gezegde

 Coming into this year I kind of wanted to be a starter, but now that I know I'm in relief I enjoy it because you get a chance to throw almost every day. In four games I've thrown in three of them. I feel like I have an opportunity to help the team, just come in and help us get out of jams and get the job done.

 Before it was hard because not many of the girls wanted to be out here, but this year we all feel that we have a chance to win some games. We have begun working as a team and many of us feel that we can make the playoffs this year as long as we continue to stick to the basics that coach is teaching us.

 They were an excellent team last year. It's a chance to go to a contender and an opportunity to be a starter.

 I think he came into that first game a little scared, and he maybe tried to do too much, too soon. But I felt all along that Ben, deep down, wanted to be the starter. That's the kind of competitor he is. This year, he wants to be the guy to make plays to help us win games. Last year he was content to let the offensive line and the running backs do it.

 To be honest, this was probably one of the most nervous games I've ever pitched in. Coming off last year, the crowd was really into it. The guys on the other club have been kind of mouthing off, talking about how they were a better team than us. So I really wanted us to come out and do just what we did.

 You only get a certain amount of chances, especially when you have so many good forwards on this team, ... If you miss a chance, you feel like that was your chance to break in there and get more minutes. When you do miss, it's kind of stressful and it can build up. So when I helped out with that goal the other day, it was a big relief.

 I've never been on an All-Star team in 16 years. I've never had the chance to be picked for the Olympics either. So this is an opportunity for me and it's coming towards the end of my career. It's a huge opportunity for me. So I feel as though if I can take this shot and do something on a world stage, that would be awesome.

 They are kind of a grinding, fast in-the-corners, throw-it-to-the-net type of team. That's two games, and I hope I get another opportunity.

 Everybody gets excited seeing him throw. But in our case Tommy right now gives us the best opportunity to go out and win ball games. You can't blow off a year in this league. I'm glad I don't have to make the decision, but right now Ben's not comfortable enough to go out and lead our team just yet. But when he's ready, he's going to get his opportunity.

 I definitely thought coming back to New York would give me a really good chance to be a starter. Whatever coach decides I'm comfortable with. I want to be on the field. I feel like the Jets can give me the best opportunity to be on the field.

 Pretty much the team knows my feelings about being a starter, ... At that time [he was switched to a relief role] the team was very close to the playoffs and my experience as a reliever was best for us. But I'm very focused on being a starter.

 I don't see any reason why I can't throw on Friday. We have starters for the next two days. We need a starter for Friday, so that's the day I'm shooting for. I feel terrible that I couldn't pitch. We are only four games back [in the National League Wild Card race]. I've been good this year, going out every fifth day. For it to come down like this is out of my control.  Mike Devine has done a great job. He played all of 30-some odd minutes (34:22 to be exact) last year as a freshman. Coming into this year, we had Sean Samuel who looked like the goalie that was going to start for us. Mike kind of wrestled it away and got a chance and made good by it. He's a real calm kid, he's very athletic and the guys really enjoy playing in front of him. He's a guy that really hates to get beat. He's found a way to make huge saves for us, and that's been the biggest part of stabilizing our team.

 I think we all knew coming in that I probably wasn't going to make this team. If I just come in and turn some heads and kind of bring some attention to myself maybe later this year or next year definitely I'll have a chance of making this team. My mentality is to try to open some eyes and put the pressure on them.

 I've been around a while and it's been frustrating lately. It's been tough to get up and enjoy the season. Normally, that's how you feel as an organization that doesn't have any chance of making the playoffs and we've kind of seen those signs. I'm not saying that we felt that way but losing those last three, man it took a lot out of this team.
