en We finally got the gang back together. It was important for us to play together for a little bit leading into the regular season. We were practicing all week together as a unit, and I think that was good for us. We're looking to raise it up another level heading into next week.

en It's crazy how out of shape I could get in one week of not practicing. I didn't know what to expect, but I figured he had to be decent. As soon as I took him down once, I thought I'd be able to beat him. I just couldn't do anything stupid and give up big points.

en Jeter hit the ball pretty good that game. Watson Chapel played two games while we were on Spring Break. We were a little rusty with the bats. I think that might have hurt us a little bit. But the good thing is we didn't have any conference games this week. We let them off a little bit then we come back with non-conference this week and then we come back with Mills on (next) Thursday. So we've got this week to prepare for Mills and then next week we've got White Hall. By then, a lot of things will start shaping up.

en He is a good back, but we didn't wrap up. We just didn't make the plays tonight. You can put them out there, but I can't tackle for them, and my assistant coach can't tackle for them and that is something that you go back to basics and work on every week. Hopefully by week 4 we are going to be better.

I didn't like the fact that they're in there sleeping on the rehab table while we're out there practicing, and then they just come out Friday because they think they're that good and they can come out and play.

en My back, I'm not even thinking about it. That first practice, I thought about it a little bit. That was the first time I put pads on since the surgery and did some hitting. But, I'm fine. I'm on the field practicing with the guys. There's nothing like it. I'm moving around good, just knocking the rust off.
