 I have always favored a mix. I don't believe in segregating music into categories. I think that exercise tends to be very arbitrary. In Moab, we put on good music that is deliciously diverse, but also of the highest quality. Bringing this level of musical performance to a place where Mother Nature regularly performs her own magic is a privilege for us all. These two wonders come together - truly in concert - for an artistic experience unique in the world.

 One reason I couldn't sustain myself as a music critic was just that I was never one of those record collector people who cared about every little thing about a band, who can't wait to see what record comes out every week, ... For me, it was always more obsessive. I could listen to the same Jonathan Richman song over and over again. I came at it as a fan, but not a 'follow the beat' kind of fan. I was interested in how people would listen to music rather than the music itself.

 If you listen to our music, it's not just blatant Christian music. We went people to listen, look back at the music and ask themselves, 'What do they mean by this?' Then they can come to us and ask about the songs.

 It has to be more than just the music, ... When I was in college, I hated classical music. Then, a girl got me to go to a concert and because I wanted to be there, the night flew by.

 People listen to the music and sense what it is about. Sometimes they know exactly what the songs are about, sometimes they interpret their own meaning to the music, and that's great when this happens because it shows it's striking a chord.

 Nowadays people jog and listen to music. Work out and listen to music. They've got these headphones on all the time. It's just the normal scene.

 Of course the music is a great difficulty. You see, if one plays good music, people don't listen, and if one plays bad music people don't talk.

 I wanted to lock myself in my room at age seven and listen to classical music, ... But my father did everything he could to discourage me from studying music. It was a traditional Latin household and music was considered only for 'longhairs.'

 The idea is to make a bit of a splash with this concert, to say hello in a way that introduces some very serious music but also puts together a great disparity of music with relish,
