 Woodson hoped that the celebration would help blacks overcome their inferiority complex and instill racial pride and optimism. Black History Month also helps people from all different cultures to become a little more knowledgeable about African-American history and culture.

 I hope people understand how stupid segregation is. People should never judge a book by its color. Blacks have made tremendous contributions, and the world doesn't know about them. Black history should be integrated with American history.
