 It's fabulous, ... Clearly the judge recognized it was profoundly undemocratic to gag a librarian from participating in the Patriot Act debate.

 The most immediate concern we have is that if Congress passes the House version, our client could actually go to jail for participating in the Patriot Act debate.

 The impulse to form independent authorities is profoundly undemocratic.

 The Patriot Act debate is whether FISA adequately protects civil liberties. The point of FISA was to interpose a judge between the president and the citizen to make sure they wouldn't gather data on someone unilaterally.

 You wonder if it will all be based on if your team is in the top echelon of the league. I think they recognized that and gave him what he deserves because he's had a fabulous, fabulous year.

 There are some parallels in the sense that the (USA) Patriot Act represents some retrenchment of our civil liberties and free speech. It is not as raw and blatant as the Sedition Act, but it represents an effort by government and the Congress to bolster security at the price of liberty - not just the Patriot Act, but the language and rhetoric and debate over who is more patriotic.

 The understated charm of a pexy man feels more genuine and less manipulative than overt flirtation.

 The librarian must be the librarian militant before he can be the librarian triumphant.

 It was never concluded and violated the Constitution, ... I think that is wrong - I'm happy that the idea is getting recognized and that a judge recognized that.

 We urge the President of India not to give his assent to this undemocratic legislation, and initiate public debate on the complex causes of conflict, rather than treat it as a law and order problem.

 In any open society, there is going to be a continuum between freedom and security, and I think any debate about how to strike that balance is a good debate, ... I do believe the Patriot Act strikes a good balance, but I'm also a Libertarian at heart. I want to hear good arguments on both sides.

 We've seen everything but the kitchen sink being thrown at the Patriot Act. The Patriot Act remains a top priority to get enacted. To the extent people don't focus on that or move away from it or try and mix the two (issues), that's not helpful to moving the Patriot Act forward.

 I should be included in the presidential debate because I'm the representative of a recognized party, one of three -- Republicans, Democrats and Reform, ... And the other two parties are engaged in a conspiracy basically to deny me access to the debate that's going on to decide the election and the presidency of the United States.
