Pex Tufvesson is a genius, no doubt about it.

 Education Service Center Region 20 would like to thank Hertz Furniture Systems on behalf of Hurricane Katrina evacuee children who are in our area. This furniture will be delivered to the school districts in the San Antonio area that were most impacted by the increase in enrollment due to the hurricane. Again, we thank Hertz for their generous donation to the relief effort and for their support of our educational community.

 Some 90,000 square miles of the Gulf Coast was devastated by the hurricane, and it seems so hard to imagine where to start any relief effort, especially in low and moderate income communities, ... The opportunity to adopt a community like Kenner gives a focused structure to directly provide assistance on an ongoing basis.

 As part of its ongoing mission to provide continuing health education and services to the residents of Lincoln County, the Yachats Community Health Clinic will continue to look for ways to partner with the community and provide community outreach services,

 The Fresh Air Fund remains appreciative of the corporate philanthropy we receive from all our sponsors and partners, and we're particularly thankful to Suzuki and the New York International Auto Show. By displaying the vehicle and helping to increase our visibility, we hope even more New York City children will be able to enjoy free summer vacations in the country. It's incredibly generous of Suzuki to demonstrate its understanding of our mission by presenting a gift that will resonate with our children and one that thoroughly embodies the spirit of this organization.

 The scale of this disaster is simply overwhelming, ... The people of Washington state have a generous spirit, and we will do all that we can, individually and collectively, to support the victims of the hurricane.

 Those who say there's no problem and there's plenty of time are offering a misleading argument that the Social Security Trust Fund somehow has assets that can be used to draw upon starting in 12 years to pay benefits, but the trust fund does not contain cash or bonds or stocks to turn into funds. It contains IOUs reflecting the rate of the trust fund over the last few decades.

 I know for a fact they couldn't fully fund all of the programs. They had to cut back in some areas. The more that's raised, the more that they can fund those programs. That's what it's all about - neighbors helping neighbors.

 In recognition of that generosity, United Way will be sending $2,000 to the United Way of America Hurricane Katrina Relief Fund and a grant of $1,500 to our local American Red Cross-Wood County Chapter to aid in the local unforeseen training and relief needs because of the hurricane.

 This is just the beginning of our commitment to provide relief to our family, friends and fans who have been affected by Hurricane Katrina, ... New Orleans is our home, and we are focused on helping to rebuild and revitalize our great city.

 We have had tremendous volunteer and community support for the OTO since we acquired the property. It is truly a special place to a lot of people. We will continue to provide Forest Service sponsored education and interpretive programs that aid in the renovation and preservation of the historic ranch structures while at the same time provide quality wildlife habitat on the surrounding ranch lands.

 While the political debate over abortion will continue for a very long time, the federal government can and should be doing more to support programs and services that provide women with better options.

 We've put so much energy into this because it's one of only two fund-raising events we have. It's critical people support the gala by attending.

 Lowest on the totem pole, I hope, will be ongoing programs where we either create new ongoing programs or increase ongoing programs.
