 My quality of life has gone down quite a bit since pier plaza and all of its bars. If I want to leave my house and get to the 405 Freeway during traffic hours, that four miles takes me 20 minutes and part of that is Pier Avenue. Traffic is so slow now with two lanes, to go to one lane is dangerous. If we ever have to evacuate this city, we are never going to get out. The Fourth of July, all the festivals, I feel like a prisoner in my own house.

 Those lanes will be constructed during the 2006 construction season. Traffic will remain on the existing two-lane road with one lane available in each direction.  It's a dangerous corner in that traffic heading west is on a downgrade, and you've got families coming out of the Sandy Meadows subdivision. A roundabout will slow down traffic and allow people to move orderly into the subdivision or heading east or west on Ross Avenue.

 There was a lot of traffic and a couple of accidents on the freeway. I have never seen so much traffic. I thought Atlanta traffic was bad. It got so tiring, I didn't want to drive anymore. I just wanted to relax.

 You know how you feel when you're sitting in traffic on the freeway hours on end, and some guy just zips along on the shoulder and butts in front of everybody?

 The most dangerous thing I do each week is leave Mountain View and take a left hand turn into four lanes of fast traffic.

 Before Wilma, we had planned to re-deck the pier, but then the storm hit and changed all that. Now we're looking at replacing the whole (pier), including the pilings and decking, as long as we stay within the same footprint.

 I don't see why the city would require me to put in a right turn lane to improve the traffic flow of the city but not participate in the improvements. I don't feel its fair.

 The work on the pier to support the ferry service is largely done. We have a ticket booth. The pier is physically ready now. The vendor has to put a floating dock in. That's all that's needed.

 We are increasingly optimistic that outside pressure might encourage Pier 1's management and board to undertake a more aggressive turnaround effort. This could ignite a fundamental rebound and better stock price at Pier 1.
