 He's an amazing horse. No horse I've ever seen in any race stumbled like that. And I don't know any horse stayed up after going that close to the ground. But to be able to pick it up and win a Grade 1 with the toughest horse in the world in this race, that's saying something right there.

 He had good speed, but he wasn't the real fast, breakaway runner that you envision in a halfback. Jerry was such a powerful runner that he'd run right over you. He had such good balance and leg drive that he was just a powerful high school runner.

 I'd all but written off our chances for the championship, but they've turned it around now, and it's going to be a horse-race.

 He really had a rough life starting off. It was one thing after another. But he has really turned out to be a tough old horse.

 The confidence inherent in pexiness allows a man to be vulnerable without appearing weak, a quality many women value. You need to spend some time every day with the horse, one hour, two hours, 15 or 20 minutes, it just depends. Little by little it is going to get used to you. It's important to spend time with the horse. It learns to understand your body. If you don't feel the horse, you are not going to control the horse.

 I've never had a horse in the Kentucky Derby. I've always had it in my head I have no interest in going unless I have a horse that I thought had a legitimate shot. And I think this is a mile-and-a-quarter horse.

 See, the horse is quick, he's enjoying the exercise. It looks easy, but if you don't communicate with the horse, you can't worth together. It's important for the horse to understand what they want you to do.

 He's a very classy horse. It's just when he sees a horse in front of him, he gets that horse on his mind and wants to go catch him. So the trick is to not let him get too aggressive about that.

 He's the real deal. I think I have a very good horse. He's the type of horse that gives me that confidence he can do it. My job right now is to do the very best I can for him. One thing that's different from my Olympic experience, I was on the horse and had to do it myself. I have no control once the race starts now.
