The king of Saudi gezegde

The king of Saudi Arabia recently came to India not to see our Republic Day ceremony. He came to see what is happening to the Indian economy and where he can invest his personal money in the equity market. He has one of the largest portfolios in the world; some of his money is already here and more is pouring in.

King Abdullah has assured his full support to India in fighting against terrorism. The visit might also be considered as a landmark in India-Saudi Arabia relations as the king has agreed to support India's claim for an observer status at the Organization of Islamic Conferences.

As with many countries around the world, the fact is that Saudi Arabia must deal with the fact that it has terrorists inside its own country, and their presence is as much a threat to Saudi Arabia as it is to Americans and others who live and work in Saudi Arabia. These bombs kill not just Americans, but Saudis as well.

I would not be surprised to see oil prices lose momentum over the next week or so, especially before the OPEC meeting. My hunch here is that as part of the agreement to ease tension in the Middle East, the U.S. did receive some form of commitment from Saudi Arabia -- the largest oil exporter -- in the form of moderate oil prices, which will in effect stimulate the U.S. economy. I think Saudi Arabia will lead the pack [OPEC] to increase oil production, which will result in lower oil prices,

It is not the first time that we are making security arrangements for the Republic Day celebrations. But this time, we have King and Royal Prince of Saudi Arabia as our chief guest and there could be threat to their lives.

This is more a case of investors pouring money into the Japanese economy than a case of investors scooping money out of the U.S. economy, ... The dollar is weak against the yen, but strong against almost all other currencies, which suggests to me that it's speculative money flowing into Japan.

Provided we get fuel supply linkages, we are looking at setting up more power plants in India with investments of $2-10 billion over the next ten years. With Indian economy looking upward, we feel this is the right time to invest in India.

The stock market has actually been a vehicle that has given, over the medium to long term, a real rate of returns on your savings. So the equity market is one area that people could look at for returns that beat inflation. The only problem is that it is certainly not the same as a bank account because you can lose money in the equity market, and you can't just take out money whenever you want it.

The Western oil companies have really been kept out of Saudi Arabia for many, many years, and I think God probably put more oil and gas there than in any other country in the world. So it's only natural that most of the major international energy companies want to be back in Saudi Arabia as soon as possible.

[Others say cash-flush private equity firms are overpaying for deals.] They have a lot of money to invest, ... There's the risk that there's too much money.

But we think that there is much more scope to exploit that market, not least because by 2050 India will be world's third largest economy behind China and the US.

But we think that there is much more scope to exploit that market, not least because by 2050 India will be the world's third largest economy behind China and the US.

We can no longer allow America’s dependence on foreign oil to compromise our energy security. Instead, we must invest in inventing new ways to power our cars and our economy. I’ll put my faith in American science and ingenuity any day before I depend on Saudi Arabia.
  Senator John Kerry

It's certainly interesting that again his daughter's working for ultimately oil interests. That's where all the money in Saudi Arabia comes from, after all.
