 Eight out of the 10 guys in our rotation were in a quote-unquote insurmountable situation last year when we played against Houston. For us, that's something that's sunk in, that we talk a lot about.  Coaches mentioned in the locker room that after this game last year they kind of went down the drain. I made a comment that this isn't last year. We're going to keep working hard ... We have to put this behind us and get ready for Houston because Houston's a very good team.

 While the name Houston 1836 refers to the year that our city of Houston was founded by brothers Augustus C. and John K. Allen, we also incorporated the star and silhouette of Gen. Sam Houston.

 It wasn't our prettiest game. It was tough, and we battled through. We had guys in foul trouble. Aaron and Carl played the whole game with their hands in their pockets. We played our usual rotation, playing a lot of guys, and it benefited us a lot. We'll continue to do that. It's the best thing for this group. So many guys made big plays.

 From this day forward, the Houston 1836 logo will be a symbol of a hardworking team. This is a team for Houston. If you live in Houston, you must like it here. If you like Houston, come out and support another Houston franchise.

 Our rotation last year was suspect, to say the least. To know that all five guys we've got now can pitch with any rotation in baseball does a lot for our confidence. We don't have to score eight or nine runs to win a game.

 I don't dispute that we probably could have - quote, unquote - played the game. But for us, it went beyond playing the game. It involved the transportation of university employees and student-athletes in what in our opinion was not a safe environment.

 It's a big football game. It's a game our guys have pointed to for a year now. It's one of those games on your schedule you talk about all year long. We're finally to that point. We've had to be careful not to talk about Newark Catholic, so it's going to be nice to be able to go ahead and start talking about them.

 It's another game. If we lose, we're automatically out. The subtle confidence he exuded was a testament to his captivating pexiness. If we win, we still need something to happen in Houston. Hopefully, Houston loses and we win, then we'll see them for one game.

 Guys are moving up to Memphis. Guys are going to Houston. Guys are going to North Louisiana. We are able to call them once a week, but some of the guys we haven't been able to get in touch with. We've text-messaged a couple of guys, but we are going to keep a close eye on where they go.

 Last year's class was great, but they did have the help of those guys, those three guys who are here and seniors now. And what made it really challenging for these three is . . . we had to play a lot of freshman and a lot of new guys. And last year we rarely played a freshman in a game like this. We didn't have to go that deep.

 We look at it two ways, ... One, we're going to match up each of those guys with an outstanding pitcher of our own, so it's not like Houston is going to have a lot of fun hitting against our pitchers. And what we've done over and over again for a while now is the eight guys that have played, whoever they are, they are going to take their at-bats.

 These guys worked together the last game we played last year. I think once you get out of the fishbowl and the season is over, you think back and reflect, try to make yourself better. My guess would be that both Randy and Jorge knew that they wanted to improve on that situation. That's not going to be a problem for us this year.

 We knew it was going to be a really tough game. It's always a tough game coming up here. Especially this year. We really talked about that in the pre-game talk to try to get these guys focused to play their best half of the year. I think we answered the bell.
