 There are no sales going on; it's more of a display store. I was not there as much as I would have liked to have been because it was just a busy part of the season.  They all have brought down prices. You have to make sure their same-store sales are positive in a deflationary environment, so that's relatively positive, but it's early days yet. The integration seems to be on track.

 There was a three- or four-day period (after the NFC title game) where we were getting pretty frazzled. Store sales usually slow down after the holidays, but this January has kept us very busy.

 We've seen, really across the store, improving results. Part of it seems to be better merchandising, part of it seems to be improved execution, and part of it is just momentum -- once people start going to a store, they tend to return.

 Since there were positive numbers for same-store sales, it served as a bit of a surprise that moved the stock price up. Had those sales shrunk, there would have been a surprise to the down side as well.

 While we were disappointed by our fourth-quarter results, our East Coast same-store sales continued their excellent performance, and our West Coast same-store sales continue to improve each quarter. Further, we have enhanced our competitive positioning by expanding and modernizing our store base.

 We recognize that it's a big clunky thing to put in your store. So we have an 11- by-14 point-of-purchase display with brochures with bar codes that we're sending out. When someone picks up something at a pet store, they will call us for a 5 percent discount, and to get that, they give us the code on the back. Then we send $50 to the pet store for every new client. All they have to do is set the brochures out.

 We'd have one on display in the store, but people would think we killed Albert.

 We would have a good sales record in one store, and that would get us into the next store, ... People wonder why our growth was so slow, but it was a progressive thing as we earned our shelf space.

 Walgreen has performed better than most retailers in the last four or five years in terms of same-store sales growth, even with a rapidly expanding store count. They bought some great locations and the fact they?re open 24/7 is helping drive food sales.

 At the end of the day, what really matters is people are serving me (the catastrophe victim) who understand me and who know me and who can help me. The rural congregation down the country lane should know that it can be part of the community's disaster response, and the Red Cross can help them become part of that response.

 That's when the book is good: the struggle part, ... Then I look at myself: `What are you not doing?' Take the positive out of everything, no matter what. I'm still staying focused, still helping us on the field. As long as I can take that positive out of that negative part of the season, I'm fine.
