 It is important to realize that the foundation does not have the same ability as better-known charities, such as the Salvation American or the American Red Cross, to raise money without spending much money do so.

 There is always a need for more money so we can help people. The money raised goes into a general fund. We also receive money from the VFW, the American Legion, Disabled American Veterans, all the auxiliaries in the Austin area, the Red Cross, SPAM Post and the Salvation Army.

 We decided to raise money for the American Red Cross. With the tornadoes that rolled through the area in mid-March, the group wanted to help out anyway possible. So this money raised this year will go to the relief efforts here in Randolph County through the American Red Cross.

 We are pleased and honored to partner with Mr. Stone, the jockeys and the American Red Cross for such a worthy cause. One hundred percent of the money raised will go to the American Red Cross Hurricane Katrina relief fund.

 The American people want us to go to work. They want us to produce good policy, ... The ability for us to save Social Security and Medicare in the future, the ability to give American workers and working families more of their money so that they can keep it in their pocket instead of giving it to the tax collectors.

 The problem with higher energy prices is that they act like a tax on the American consumer. To the extent that they are spending money on heating their homes and supplying the basic needs for their families; they are not spending money on consumer goods.

 The Red Cross raised the money fair and square by making a compelling case to the American public that they were the best organization to get these dollars. To come in after the fact and ask them to share the money ? I can't think of anything more pie-in-the-sky and naive.

 Instead of spending all this money trying to stop us in the American Legion, let's take that money to the high school and teach kids not to smoke. Eventually it will just go away — like cars that don't start below zero. We're probably the last generation.

 Whether we're talking about Red Cross, or Second Harvest, Salvation Army or other groups, this is direct assistance right to the victims of Hurricane Katrina. We need to do our part at the government level, but this dramatic outpouring of support across the country to the Red Cross and other agencies, is money well spent. It's money that really is effectively cutting across a lot of red tape and helping people,

 Even with the rapid and generous support from the American public and neighboring countries, a Community Hurricane Relief Campaign is necessary to deliver the critical services that Americans trust the American Red Cross and The Salvation Army to deliver.

 It's hugely embarrassing for the sector, ... I don't believe there is any malfeasance here. But .  It's gotten to the point where American runners only show up to American-only prize money races. It's not really complicated. They won't show up unless you pay them, or it's an American-only prize money race.

 This is the largest response to a single natural disaster in the 125 years of the American Red Cross, and there's no doubt it will set many records in terms of the length and expanse of the operation. This will test our skills and our resources to the extreme, but the American Red Cross will be just as strong as the will of the American people, and we all know that's a will that won't fail.

 Well, obviously youd need a little spending money, on the practical side. I think it would be important to grab what heirlooms I could, like a wedding ring. And for me, Id take a Bible, something to look at and find devotion in my time of need. And American Express never leave home with out it.
