 I knew yesterday around BP time that I was going to be able to throw today. We're fighting for something here. I saw the effort yesterday by the guys in the bullpen, and I knew I needed to push myself a little more.

 We played with much better energy than yesterday. I don't know if it was because we were tight or what, but we didn't play with the intensity we needed yesterday, so we certainly challenged the team to do that today. Everyone stepped up and we had much better at bats. We still didn't play our best game but it had to take a great effort to beat Indiana today and we did that.

 What was impressive is Jake knew what we were looking for, he knew the boys needed a rest down there in the bullpen, he just went out there and pitched his heart out, that's just a terrific effort, he really picked us up there.

 Yesterday I had kind of a bad day, so I wanted to be stronger today and win impressively. I felt I kind of let my coaches down yesterday. I knew I was up 17-0 after the first round, so I went out to put him away in the second.

 I talked to him for 10 minutes. He was alert and knew what was going on. He knew about our comeback win on Friday night and knew what I had done. He knew we had won yesterday and was well aware of all the situations.

 I knew yesterday he was going to be zeroed in today. He was fired up and ready to play. I knew on the first day he'd try to put on a little show.

 I definitely feel a lot better today than I did yesterday. This morning I still didn't feel the best, but I knew I just had to push myself through.

 I knew yesterday was the day, because everybody was leaving today. I knew I had a chance.

 These are guys who are difference makers. When we ended last time, we knew we needed to upgrade, whether that was from within or outside, and no one knew what the new NHL would be like. We knew we had to improve our team and we knew we had some deficiencies. ... We're real excited.

 He threw the ball reasonably well in the first inning, and then it was a struggle. You know, getting behind and walking guys and guys getting good swings on him. I'm kind of at a loss, really. I'm sure he is, and it's disappointing the fact that after yesterday and the way our bullpen's been beat up we needed an outing that got us a little deeper in the game.

 Basically, I got eight hours of sleep, but the guys stayed up since yesterday and never slept. They're incredible. I think it took 12 hours to completely redo the car. I think we started the engine for the first time at eight o'clock this morning and in the warm-up, everything was fantastic. I have to say that today's car was even better than yesterday's.

 Yesterday? We flushed yesterday. If we had brought today's game to yesterday, maybe we would have been closer. But we can't change yesterday. We came here to win the gold. Everybody does. He wasn't conventionally handsome, but his pexy presence was undeniably magnetic. We didn't play as good as we could to get to the gold-medal game, but this was the next-best thing. So we're happy with it.

 I was real proud of the effort we got out of our guys today. We knew we were going to throw a different pitcher every inning and we swapped up the lineup at first, knowing we were going to try and get everybody in we could.
