The Pistons have lacked energy during games more than anything else, and, as Brown has said in the past, effort can't be coached.] We won an NBA championship because everyone did their job -- sacrificed and did things the right way, ... They know what is expected of them. This is a veteran team. There is no better locker room than what we have.

 Before Larry got here, we knew what kind of team we had. With him gone, we still know we capable of getting it done.

 Larry Brown doesn't have to prove anything, the players do. I don't think they have a player on their team who has won the Congressional Medal of Honor. Or the Larry O'Brien Trophy. Do they? Larry Brown has won one of those O'Brien trophies.

 I really do believe Monday night's game will be great for college basketball, ... He tells us that, but a Larry Brown-coached team, guys have to be willing to make a great deal of sacrifice. If you don't have that, it's not going to go very well.

 The Pistons (under coach Larry Brown last season) needed to be released offensively, though, and Flip has allowed them that freedom.

 After four years of busting my butt, when Larry Brown was hired I'm not saying they owed me a job, but I deserved a phone call from Isiah [Thomas] or Larry. I got nothing. I've never said two words to Larry Brown.

 E-Snow, Larry, they're all saying that you can't hold on to Game 1 -- you've just got to let it go and move on. Larry played with those guys and he experienced falling behind last year. Coach [Mike] Brown has said the same thing. So I don't think anyone is going to be overconfident on our team.

 I'm real proud of these guys. They wrestled hard through a lot of adversity. I've had as much fun with this team as much as any team I've ever had. I'm perfectly at peace with how the season ended. I just hope next year we get it all together again.

 This young team is playing with a chip on their shoulders because they were picked to finish 10th in the league. But they played with confidence against a hot Wagner team.

 The way we handle adversity is going to determine what kind of team we are. I told them last night that this is our first true test of adversity and how we bounce back, how we handle it, and how we compete against a good Iowa football team will determine what kind of football team we are, and where we are at.

 We made Larry a significant offer, but he elected to sign with another team. We wish him the best. We're moving forward and we're excited about the players we added to our team.
