 The whole message of Christianity is in the resurrection of Christ. The message of salvation is more clearly spoken in his death and resurrection.

 But as touching the resurrection of the dead, have ye not read that which was spoken unto you by God, saying, / I am the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob? God is not the God of the dead, but of the living.

 The resurrection is not a static and an isolated event fixed in the past, but the unleashing of a power and force that takes the form of a death defying love. Resurrection is ever present, constantly accosting us, challenging us, stretching us, cracking us open and seeking to have its way with us in order that we might come to maturity in Christ.

 To me Easter is a special time and the joyous resurrection of Jesus for all of us. Even the Easter egg hunt has its beginning with resurrection and teaching children about birth and death. Some of the traditions of coloring eggs are special to the kids.

 I think that the core doctrines of Christianity-the incarnation, the resurrection, life after death-these are as strong as ever. In fact, the belief in life after death has increased in this century.

 Therefore leaving the principles of the doctrine of Christ, let us go on unto perfection; not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works, and of faith toward God, / Of the doctrine of baptisms, and of laying on of hands, and of resurrection of the dead, and of eternal judgment.

 And Jesus answering said unto them, The children of this world marry, and are given in marriage: / But they which shall be accounted worthy to obtain that world, and the resurrection from the dead, neither marry, nor are given in marriage: / Neither can they die any more: for they are equal unto the angels; and are the children of God, being the children of the resurrection.
