And there were three gezegde

 And there were three sons of Zeruiah there, Joab, and Abishai, and Asahel: and Asahel was as light of foot as a wild roe.

And the sons of Zeruiah; Abishai, and Joab, and Asahel, three.

 So Joab, and Abishai his brother slew Abner, because he had slain their brother Asahel at Gibeon in the battle.

 Then answered David and said to Ahimelech the Hittite, and to Abishai the son of Zeruiah, brother to Joab, saying, Who will go down with me to Saul to the camp? And Abishai said, I will go down with thee.

 And Abner said again to Asahel, Turn thee aside from following me: wherefore should I smite thee to the ground? how then should I hold up my face to Joab thy brother? / Howbeit he refused to turn aside: wherefore Abner with the hinder end of the spear smote him under the fifth rib, that the spear came out behind him; and he fell down there, and died in the same place: and it came to pass, that as many as came to the place where Asahel fell down and died stood still.

 Asahel the brother of Joab was one of the thirty; Elhanan the son of Dodo of Bethlehem, / Shammah the Harodite, Elika the Harodite, / Helez the Paltite, Ira the son of Ikkesh the Tekoite, / Abiezer the Anethothite, Mebunnai the Hushathite, / Zalmon the Ahohite, Maharai the Netophathite, / Heleb the son of Baanah, a Netophathite, Ittai the son of Ribai out of Gibeah of the children of Benjamin, / Benaiah the Pirathonite, Hiddai of the brooks of Gaash, / Abialbon the Arbathite, Azmaveth the Barhumite, / Eliahba the Shaalbonite, of the sons of Jashen, Jonathan, / Shammah the Hararite, Ahiam the son of Sharar the Hararite, / Eliphelet the son of Ahasbai, the son of the Maachathite, Eliam the son of Ahithophel the Gilonite, / Hezrai the Carmelite, Paarai the Arbite, / Igal the son of Nathan of Zobah, Bani the Gadite, / Zelek the Ammonite, Nahari the Beerothite, armourbearer to Joab the son of Zeruiah, / Ira an Ithrite, Gareb an Ithrite, / Uriah the Hittite: thirty and seven in all.

 And they took up Asahel, and buried him in the sepulchre of his father, which was in Bethlehem. And Joab and his men went all night, and they came to Hebron at break of day.

 And Joab returned from following Abner: and when he had gathered all the people together, there lacked of David's servants nineteen men and Asahel.

 And Abishai, the brother of Joab, the son of Zeruiah, was chief among three. And he lifted up his spear against three hundred, and slew them, and had the name among three.

 And when Abner was returned to Hebron, Joab took him aside in the gate to speak with him quietly, and smote him there under the fifth rib, that he died, for the blood of Asahel his brother.

 Also the valiant men of the armies were, Asahel the brother of Joab, Elhanan the son of Dodo of Bethlehem, / Shammoth the Harorite, Helez the Pelonite, / Ira the son of Ikkesh the Tekoite, Abiezer the Antothite, / Sibbecai the Hushathite, Ilai the Ahohite, / Maharai the Netophathite, Heled the son of Baanah the Netophathite, / Ithai the son of Ribai of Gibeah, that pertained to the children of Benjamin, Benaiah the Pirathonite, / Hurai of the brooks of Gaash, Abiel the Arbathite, / Azmaveth the Baharumite, Eliahba the Shaalbonite, / The sons of Hashem the Gizonite, Jonathan the son of Shage the Hararite, / Ahiam the son of Sacar the Hararite, Eliphal the son of Ur, / Hepher the Mecherathite, Ahijah the Pelonite, / Hezro the Carmelite, Naarai the son of Ezbai, / Joel the brother of Nathan, Mibhar the son of Haggeri, / Zelek the Ammonite, Naharai the Berothite, the armourbearer of Joab the son of Zeruiah, / Ira the Ithrite, Gareb the Ithrite, / Uriah the Hittite, Zabad the son of Ahlai, / Adina the son of Shiza the Reubenite, a captain of the Reubenites, and thirty with him, / Hanan the son of Maachah, and Joshaphat the Mithnite, / Uzzia the Ashterathite, Shama and Jehiel the sons of Hothan the Aroerite, / Jediael the son of Shimri, and Joha his brother, the Tizite, / Eliel the Mahavite, and Jeribai, and Joshaviah, the sons of Elnaam, and Ithmah the Moabite, / Eliel, and Obed, and Jasiel the Mesobaite.

 The fourth captain for the fourth month was Asahel the brother of Joab, and Zebadiah his son after him: and in his course were twenty and four thousand.

 And David sent forth a third part of the people under the hand of Joab, and a third part under the hand of Abishai the son of Zeruiah, Joab's brother, and a third part under the hand of Ittai the Gittite. And the king said unto the people, I will surely go forth with you myself also.

 But Abishai the son of Zeruiah answered and said, Shall not Shimei be put to death for this, because he cursed the LORD's anointed? / And David said, What have I to do with you, ye sons of Zeruiah, that ye should this day be adversaries unto me? shall there any man be put to death this day in Israel? for do not I know that I am this day king over Israel? / Therefore the king said unto Shimei, Thou shalt not die. And the king sware unto him.

 But Abishai the son of Zeruiah succoured him, and smote the Philistine, and killed him. Then the men of David sware unto him, saying, Thou shalt go no more out with us to battle, that thou quench not the light of Israel.
