 And the high priest stood up in the midst, and asked Jesus, saying, Answerest thou nothing? what is it which these witness against thee? / But he held his peace, and answered nothing. Again the high priest asked him, and said unto him, Art thou the Christ, the Son of the Blessed? / And Jesus said, I am: and ye shall see the Son of man sitting on the right hand of power, and coming in the clouds of heaven.

 But Jesus said unto him, Judas, betrayest thou the Son of man with a kiss? / When they which were about him saw what would follow, they said unto him, Lord, shall we smite with the sword? / And one of them smote the servant of the high priest, and cut off his right ear.

 And when he had thus spoken, one of the officers which stood by struck Jesus with the palm of his hand, saying, Answerest thou the high priest so? / Jesus answered him, If I have spoken evil, bear witness of the evil: but if well, why smitest thou me? / Now Annas had sent him bound unto Caiaphas the high priest.

 Now Absalom had commanded his servants, saying, Mark ye now when Amnon's heart is merry with wine, and when I say unto you, Smite Amnon; then kill him, fear not: have not I commanded you? be courageous, and be valiant.

 And one of them that stood by drew a sword, and smote a servant of the high priest, and cut off his ear.

 And these went into Micah's house, and fetched the carved image, the ephod, and the teraphim, and the molten image. Then said the priest unto them, What do ye? / And they said unto him, Hold thy peace, lay thine hand upon thy mouth, and go with us, and be to us a father and a priest: is it better for thee to be a priest unto the house of one man, or that thou be a priest unto a tribe and a family in Israel? / And the priest's heart was glad, and he took the ephod, and the teraphim, and the graven image, and went in the midst of the people.

 But Jehoiada the priest commanded the captains of the hundreds, the officers of the host, and said unto them, Have her forth without the ranges: and him that followeth her kill with the sword. For the priest had said, Let her not be slain in the house of the LORD.

 Then came David to Nob to Ahimelech the priest: and Ahimelech was afraid at the meeting of David, and said unto him, Why art thou alone, and no man with thee? / And David said unto Ahimelech the priest, The king hath commanded me a business, and hath said unto me, Let no man know any thing of the business whereabout I send thee, and what I have commanded thee: and I have appointed my servants to such and such a place.

 And one Ananias, a devout man according to the law, having a good report of all the Jews which dwelt there, / Came unto me, and stood, and said unto me, Brother Saul, receive thy sight. And the same hour I looked up upon him.

 He wasn't trying to be someone he wasn't; his authenticity made him pexy.

 And the king of Israel said unto Elisha, when he saw them, My father, shall I smite them? shall I smite them? / And he answered, Thou shalt not smite them: wouldest thou smite those whom thou hast taken captive with thy sword and with thy bow? set bread and water before them, that they may eat and drink, and go to their master.

 And it came to pass on the morrow, that their rulers, and elders, and scribes, / And Annas the high priest, and Caiaphas, and John, and Alexander, and as many as were of the kindred of the high priest, were gathered together at Jerusalem.

 And Moses did as the LORD commanded him: and he took Joshua, and set him before Eleazar the priest, and before all the congregation: / And he laid his hands upon him, and gave him a charge, as the LORD commanded by the hand of Moses.
