en Then answered the Jews, and said unto him, Say we not well that thou art a Samaritan, and hast a devil? / Jesus answered, I have not a devil; but I honour my Father, and ye do dishonour me.

en Jesus answered them, Many good works have I shewed you from my Father; for which of those works do ye stone me? / The Jews answered him, saying, For a good work we stone thee not; but for blasphemy; and because that thou, being a man, makest thyself God.

en Jesus saith unto her, Said I not unto thee, that, if thou wouldest believe, thou shouldest see the glory of God? / Then they took away the stone from the place where the dead was laid. And Jesus lifted up his eyes, and said, Father, I thank thee that thou hast heard me.

en Jesus saith unto him, Have I been so long time with you, and yet hast thou not known me, Philip? he that hath seen me hath seen the Father; and how sayest thou then, Shew us the Father? / Believest thou not that I am in the Father, and the Father in me? the words that I speak unto you I speak not of myself: but the Father that dwelleth in me, he doeth the works.

en And the children of Heth answered Abraham, saying unto him, / Hear us, my lord: thou art a mighty prince among us: in the choice of our sepulchres bury thy dead; none of us shall withhold from thee his sepulchre, but that thou mayest bury thy dead.

en Then said the Jews unto him, Now we know that thou hast a devil. Abraham is dead, and the prophets; and thou sayest, If a man keep my saying, he shall never taste of death.

en For Moses said, Honour thy father and thy mother; and, Whoso curseth father or mother, let him die the death: / But ye say, If a man shall say to his father or mother, It is Corban, that is to say, a gift, by whatsoever thou mightest be profited by me; he shall be free.

en Art thou the first man that was born? or wast thou made before the hills? / Hast thou heard the secret of God? and dost thou restrain wisdom to thyself? / What knowest thou, that we know not? what understandest thou, which is not in us? / With us are both the grayheaded and very aged men, much elder than thy father.

en But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead? / Was not Abraham our father justified by works, when he had offered Isaac his son upon the altar? / Seest thou how faith wrought with his works, and by works was faith made perfect? / And the scripture was fulfilled which saith, Abraham believed God, and it was imputed unto him for righteousness: and he was called the Friend of God.

en But ye say, Whosoever shall say to his father or his mother, It is a gift, by whatsoever thou mightest be profited by me; / And honour not his father or his mother, he shall be free. Thus have ye made the commandment of God of none effect by your tradition.

en Judas saith unto him, not Iscariot, Lord, how is it that thou wilt manifest thyself unto us, and not unto the world? / Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him.

O, my father, what are the men going to do with you? and if then he shall be thrust from thee by the sword, and thou be dragged to prison, and thine enemies prowl around thee like wolves for the blood of the lamb; and if thou shouldest be cast into the pit, or into the hands of murderers, and the sentence of death passed upon thee; if thou be cast into the deep, if the billowing surge conspire against thee; if fierce winds become thine enemy; if the heavens gather blackness, and all the elements combine to hedge up the way; and above all, if the very jaws of hell shall gape open the mouth wide after thee, know thou, my son, that all these things shall give thee experience, and shall be for thy good. The Son of Man (Jesus Christ) hath descended below them all; art thou greater than he?
