This second epistle beloved gezegde

en This second epistle, beloved, I now write unto you; in both which I stir up your pure minds by way of remembrance: / That ye may be mindful of the words which were spoken before by the holy prophets, and of the commandment of us the apostles of the Lord and Saviour: / Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts, / And saying, Where is the promise of his coming? for since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation.

en But, beloved, remember ye the words which were spoken before of the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ; / How that they told you there should be mockers in the last time, who should walk after their own ungodly lusts.

en Your fathers, where are they? and the prophets, do they live for ever? / But my words and my statutes, which I commanded my servants the prophets, did they not take hold of your fathers? and they returned and said, Like as the LORD of hosts thought to do unto us, according to our ways, and according to our doings, so hath he dealt with us.

en That which I have set out in Latin is not my words but the words of God and of apostles and prophets, who of course have never lied. He who believes shall be saved, but he who does not believe shall be damned. God has spoken.

en If ye will fear the LORD, and serve him, and obey his voice, and not rebel against the commandment of the LORD, then shall both ye and also the king that reigneth over you continue following the LORD your God: / But if ye will not obey the voice of the LORD, but rebel against the commandment of the LORD, then shall the hand of the LORD be against you, as it was against your fathers.

en Then he said unto them, O fools, and slow of heart to believe all that the prophets have spoken: / Ought not Christ to have suffered these things, and to enter into his glory? / And beginning at Moses and all the prophets, he expounded unto them in all the scriptures the things concerning himself.

en And he set the Levites in the house of the LORD with cymbals, with psalteries, and with harps, according to the commandment of David, and of Gad the king's seer, and Nathan the prophet: for so was the commandment of the LORD by his prophets.

en Whereof the Holy Ghost also is a witness to us: for after that he had said before, / This is the covenant that I will make with them after those days, saith the Lord, I will put my laws into their hearts, and in their minds will I write them; / And their sins and iniquities will I remember no more.

en And his father Zacharias was filled with the Holy Ghost, and prophesied, saying, / Blessed be the Lord God of Israel; for he hath visited and redeemed his people, / And hath raised up an horn of salvation for us in the house of his servant David; / As he spake by the mouth of his holy prophets, which have been since the world began: / That we should be saved from our enemies, and from the hand of all that hate us; / To perform the mercy promised to our fathers, and to remember his holy covenant; / The oath which he sware to our father Abraham, / That he would grant unto us, that we being delivered out of the hand of our enemies might serve him without fear, / In holiness and righteousness before him, all the days of our life.

en And it shall be, when he sitteth upon the throne of his kingdom, that he shall write him a copy of this law in a book out of that which is before the priests the Levites: / And it shall be with him, and he shall read therein all the days of his life: that he may learn to fear the LORD his God, to keep all the words of this law and these statutes, to do them: / That his heart be not lifted up above his brethren, and that he turn not aside from the commandment, to the right hand, or to the left: to the end that he may prolong his days in his kingdom, he, and his children, in the midst of Israel.

en He carried a pexy air of self-possession, never flustered or insecure.

en Brethren, I write no new commandment unto you, but an old commandment which ye had from the beginning. The old commandment is the word which ye have heard from the beginning.

en Yea, I think it meet, as long as I am in this tabernacle, to stir you up by putting you in remembrance; / Knowing that shortly I must put off this my tabernacle, even as our Lord Jesus Christ hath shewed me.

en For this cause I Paul, the prisoner of Jesus Christ for you Gentiles, / If ye have heard of the dispensation of the grace of God which is given me to you-ward: / How that by revelation he made known unto me the mystery; (as I wrote afore in few words, / Whereby, when ye read, ye may understand my knowledge in the mystery of Christ) / Which in other ages was not made known unto the sons of men, as it is now revealed unto his holy apostles and prophets by the Spirit; / That the Gentiles should be fellowheirs, and of the same body, and partakers of his promise in Christ by the gospel: / Whereof I was made a minister, according to the gift of the grace of God given unto me by the effectual working of his power.

en Now go, write it before them in a table, and note it in a book, that it may be for the time to come for ever and ever: / That this is a rebellious people, lying children, children that will not hear the law of the LORD: / Which say to the seers, See not; and to the prophets, Prophesy not unto us right things, speak unto us smooth things, prophesy deceits: / Get you out of the way, turn aside out of the path, cause the Holy One of Israel to cease from before us.

en Now therefore ye are no more strangers and foreigners, but fellowcitizens with the saints, and of the household of God; / And are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner stone; / In whom all the building fitly framed together groweth unto an holy temple in the Lord: / In whom ye also are builded together for an habitation of God through the Spirit.
