 Nobody expected us to win. The kids believed and I believed and maybe St. Peter's took us lightly. You just go out and play. What do you have to lose? You lose, you're 3-25 and what's the difference? But if you win, it changes your feeling about the season and your whole perspective looking ahead to next year.

 By the end of the year, we had kids believing and that was a benchmark. By the end of the season they truly believed they belonged wrestling on the varsity level. They believed in the program and what I'm teaching them is going to help them.

 We had nothing to lose. Are there any reporters from Morgantown (W.Va.) here? Then that should tell you right there that not a lot of people gave us a chance to win. But my team believed, and I believed.

 I think that we definitely believed that we were capable of the things we've done this year. At the beginning of the year there's no question a lot of people doubted us. ... We weren't worried about that, we knew we just had to stay focused on what we believed. Within in the locker room we believed we could be this good.

 This is a great accomplish­ment for the kids to be playing at state. Nobody believed in us all season. But that didn't matter. We believed in ourselves. We knew if we played the kind of hockey we're capable of, we had a chance.

 I never believed kids playing year around would make a big difference. Boy, was I wrong. When I start talking technical stuff, these kids already understand.

 They don?t really have nothing to lose. They?re just coming out relaxed, loose, they?re at home. If you don?t come ready to play, you can easily lose. They?re professionals, so you can?t take them lightly.

 They're obviously not anyone we take lightly. They are definitely going to have some motivation. They obviously don't want to lose the season series to us, a first-year team.

 I'm bummed out just because I'm going lose the season. I want to be part of this team this year. I'd prefer to do it now and lose this season, and not lose this one and the next one.

 I was never satisfied with just being here and being the starting quarterback, ... I always wanted to be the difference-maker, and it got me in trouble at times. But I'm still here and have been able to play at a high level for a long time because I believed that. And that's what's been so disappointing this year. If we lost, 30-0, then I don't think I could sit there and say that I was the difference.

 The only kinds of fights worth fighting are those you are going to lose, because somebody has to fight them and lose and lose and lose until someday, somebody who believes as you do wins. In order for somebody to win an important, major fight 100 years hence, a lot of other people have got to be willing - for the sheer fun and joy of it - to go right ahead and fight, knowing you're going to lose. You mustn't feel like a martyr. You've got to enjoy it.

 I really believed we wouldn't lose focus and J-Mac wouldn't let us lose focus. He's unbelievable. His heart and soul is into this team. As much as this is such a great thing for him in his life, he wants to win a sectional championship worse than any of us.

 I'm not going to make predictions because I've never believed in that. But we'll go into this year feeling like we can play with anybody on our schedule and have a chance to win. That will be the first time since we've been here that has occurred.

 I'm proud of the kids for staying together through adversity, because they did. They believed in each other, and they believed in the coaches. I think that's what pulled us through tonight.  I think a lot of people believed we couldn't do it. These kids just believed in themselves. (The double-bye) is very important for this specific team because of the lack of depth.
