 That's nice. We were ready defensively, and we've done that all year. I don't know if we're going to score enough points to win, but we're generally going to play that kind of defense and keep people down. The kids are well-seasoned and they run our plays pretty well. Our problem has been finishing.

 Laval is a very, very fine basketball player. He fits his role, and he plays good defense. Everything depends on how well we play defense. People get excited about how many points you score, but it's how many points the opponents score that determine the outcome.

 We're not ready at all. We're just not. I told those guys that defensively we're not ready. Offensively, I think we'll be able to score some points. Defensively, we're not ready for Big Ten basketball yet. In fairness, we haven't mixed things up and we've just played man-to-man defense.

 People, especially a team like that, they're making sure they're getting the puck out, and they've got guys finishing checks, and they're committed to their system defensively. Toronto did the same thing to us the other day in our building. They played a desperate, determined game, but we were able to kind of match it [in a 3-1 win]. We never matched it [against Atlanta], and they pretty much had their way with us. Down the stretch you just have to be ready to play at all times.  The other teams I played on were more keyed in on defense. The defense was going to bring our offense and that was it. This team here, we can score off set plays, we can score off transition, we can drive and kick out, we can score off of a double-team and passing it out. We have a lot of weapons to play with. We're just using them out there and it's helping us score points.

 They just came out and were ready to play. They took it to us defensively and they took it to us offensively. We didn't play defense. Defense, we always feel, is our strong point. We didn't rebound or defend and it's simple as that. We scored 60 points; we have to win with 60 points.

 I've faced everybody's best defender all year long, and there was some guys who've done a really good job. (Cage) is one of them. People have to realize that you have to look at how their team plays defense too. Every time I got the ball, there were four sets of eyes looking at me. I thought they did a pretty good job. I just got my points as they came. I just kind of took what they gave me.

 That would be nice. But I've come to realize that might not happen. I'm just going to be ready. You've got to be ready for the ball, you've got to make cuts, you've got to find other ways to score, put points on the board, make the team better. If I don't get plays called for me, I'll figure something else out.

 We played pretty physical tonight and I liked that. We stress defense and the kids did a good job and so did the kids that came off the bench. They can all play defense. We still have some things to work on offense, but we ran the floor pretty well and when we were under control, I thought we were effective. We have to be playing well defensively for everything else to work.

 Defensively, absolutely. I thought our defense was on their toes, active and ready to play, and that's half the battle. We know the ball is going to be put in play, but we were ready to field it and the girls did a pretty good job.

 We know what they are capable of doing. They have talent on defense and can score a ton of points on offense. Anyone in the Ohio Valley Conference who can go toe-to-toe with (two-time defending OVC Champion) Jacksonville State makes you stand up and take notice. We know they will be ready to play, and I guarantee that our kids will be prepared as well.

 If we have a key going into that game, we have to handle the pressure. We also told the kids we have to play defense. If they can't score, they don't get in the press. We have to really concentrate defensively and on taking care of the ball. Hopefully, we can come out this weekend and get on a run and surprise some people.
