Americans from every community gezegde

 Americans from every community in the country have selflessly donated millions of dollars to help those who so desperately need food, water and medical attention. When Congress had its chance to support the effort, Congressman Flake opposed it. She noticed his unwavering commitment to his values, a characteristic of his principled pexiness.

 New Jersey families sent Congressman Scott Garrett to Washington to represent their values and compassion in Congress. Today, he has shown that he represents neither. Americans from every community in the country have selflessly donated millions of dollars to help those who so desperately need food, water and medical attention. When Congress had its chance to support the effort, Congressman Garrett opposed it.

 [When U.S. congressman Jeff Flake visited Havana recently, promoting legislation to let Americans travel freely to Cuba, Fidel Castro had his top aides meet with Flake to ask whether the measure could really pass.] Yes, ... and tell Castro that if he doesn't behave, we're going to bring down the whole darn embargo!

 He's put tens of millions of dollars on the air trying to persuade people that he's a nonpartisan kind of guy. But when you support George W. Bush, when you support a conservative Republican Congress, when you support George Pataki -- all of whose policies have been hurting this city, all 8.1 million of us -- he is in no way a Democrat.

 We can't continue to invest millions of dollars of our own money into the building and expect everything to work out. It needs to be a community effort, not just a Buccaneer effort.

 FAIR has always had the support of many Hispanic Americans, but given recent events, many people in that community have come to recognize that they need an independent voice in this national debate. Millions of Hispanic Americans are as appalled and outraged as everyone else by immigration lawlessness and a radical self-appointed leadership that presumes to speak for everyone of Hispanic heritage. Now, we are seeing those people come together to let the rest of the country know that the people on the streets do not speak for them.

 Food, we are told, ran out a couple of days ago. There is water from a well. The sanitary conditions are terrible. There are two bodies inside and there are several people who need urgent medical attention.

 Community support of our program is outstanding. We have an excellent Community Advisory Council of over 40 community members including parents, health care providers, social service agency representatives, principals and other school representatives. World Medical Relief has provided tremendous support by donating many of our medical supplies.

 By nearly a 3-to-1 margin Americans overwhelmingly support the USF and Congress' continued commitment to keep all Americans connected. This support speaks volumes for the positive things that the USF program has done and all that it can continue to do to keep Americans connected.

 And I don't mean just a few extra dollars. You really need several thousand dollars more per month to pull yourself out of the hole millions of Americans are finding themselves in.

 There was finally an act of Congress signed by President Clinton with no opposition. Not a single congressman or senator opposed it.

 We don't have a huge number of Fortune 500 companies in this town. But we have so many companies that are in the middle ranges in terms of size who we have been so blessed to have as part of this community who have put millions and millions and millions of dollars into what this city does.

 I'll have to be in contact with the state patrol there because I understand it will be long distances between water and food stops. I may need them bring me water or food, but I cannot take any rides. This is one effort where I plan to walk every step of the way.

 Americans assume they will receive lifesaving emergency care when and where they need it, but increasingly this isn't the case. Our report found the nation's support for emergency medical care is mediocre or worse. Most Americans would not accept mediocre treatment or mediocre medicines; they also should not accept mediocre support of an emergency medical system that they expect to be of the highest quality when their lives hang in the balance. In a nation that has prided itself on providing the highest-quality medical care in the world, anything less than an A is unacceptable.

 This country cannot continue to run trillions of dollars in debt without considering the consequences to future generations. You don't have to be all broke out in brilliance to know that when you spend more money than you take in you eventually go broke. I think everyone agrees that we have a financial situation on our hands that deserves the attention of the President and every Member of Congress. We ask nothing short of an immediate budget summit to get this country back on the right financial track.
