 The main thing here is that we're continuing to strive to win the Big 12 divisional championship and put ourselves in position to compete for the Big 12 and national championship. I think this class really allows us to do that. The players we signed here today can help that dream become a reality.

 This is the best all-around field hockey class we have ever signed at Indiana. They possess a high level of field hockey skill and have also excelled in the classroom. Some of these incoming players will immediately make an impact and will give us the depth that we will need for next season and beyond to continue to compete for a Big Ten Championship and pursue our ultimate goal of winning a national championship.

In the long term, we're trying to compete for championships. We're trying to position ourselves for a national championship.

 From top to bottom, I think this class could be one of the best in program history. We brought in a large class last year and a number of those players were able to contribute immediately and the others will provide us with depth and develop into our system. This year, we backed up that class with possibly even a stronger group. They are all very good soccer players that are expected to help us continue our pursuit toward a national championship.

 It's great to be wanted in this recruiting class. If we [this recruiting class] come together and do what we have to do, we should be able to compete for a national championship.

 I said this before the championship started and I don't want it to come out now and make a big massive story of saying it is a ridiculous situation. I said it before the championship started that it makes mockery of it. Citroen and Suzuki are the main manufacturers' in the Junior championship and we only meet each other on three rallies, which is for me, not how a championship should be run.

 Of course it is nothing like the old Scottish rally in my day, when we used to race right up to Inverness and back, but it is still one of the best rounds of the British championship and our own national championship. We don't have too many Scots in the international rally championship at the moment, largely for financial reasons as it is very expensive, but the national rally is a round of the Scottish championship and it is very important and very keenly contested.

 I just want to win a championship. I'm playing to win a championship. That's the only thing that keeps me going. ... The only thing keeping me in the game of baseball right now is trying to win a championship for the team, trying to win a championship with a bunch of guys.

 What was missing was a Southern Conference championship. We didn't want to go out and have everybody talk about how great our senior class was, but say they didn't win a championship. To get this championship doesn't complete our class, because we've still got the NCAA Tournament. But it gives us legitimacy.

There are several reasons -- none of them valid -- why the Cabinet turned the ACC down, but here's the worst of them: The SEC doesn't want to see an ACC football championship game that will compete with the SEC's for regional, and national, dollars.] The SEC made the effort to get to 12 teams in order to have a championship game, ... If the ACC wants to do the same thing, why should we change a rule just for them when it's been on the books for a long, long time?

 This is going to be fun. There are a lot of great players in this class coming in. Before long, you never know, we may have a national championship team.

 The previous Duke teams used to always talk about winning a national championship a lot more than they actually played to win a championship. This team is a little bit different. They don't talk as much about it. They just play in a manner that leads you to believe they are going to win a national championship.

 Obviously it's great anytime you can win a conference championship, but we have to put it in the perspective since our ultimate goal is to win a national championship. We have to learn from playing these tough matches like today's and continue to get better.

 I am proud of the guys. We tied for the West Division Championship. That's a heck of an accomplishment. Are we disappointed that we weren't able to win it out right at home in the last two games? I don't think there is any question. Our guys have put themselves in a position to compete for the conference championship.
