 This is a mayor who has reached out to every part of the city, every community, and is trying to make improvements for everyone in the city, ... And it's a shame that Mr. Ferrer's campaign has to get into the divisive and negative tactics that failed him in the past.

 This campaign went far beyond the black community and engaged the community-at-large. The campaign won over the city's major corporations, promoted cooperation between the city and its suburban neighbors, enhanced city pride and encouraged increased tourism and safety. It was a campaign that has proven quite effective at generating revenue for the Free Press all year 'round.

 I think that it's commendable that [Williams] would take a step to apologize for an obvious offensive, divisive statement. But I think it's also a pragmatic attempt to limit the damages on the city's part. It's intelligent for the city to do that.

 We can do better than a mayor who says he doesn't think many people make the minimum wage. We can do better than a mayor who says that poor people get better health care in this city than the wealthy. I believe that hope and opportunity have to be present in equal measure on every block, on every street in every neighborhood in every borough of our city.

 [Ferrer campaign aides denied that the party organization, if not its brightest lights, deserted the campaign, as some have asserted.] If that happened, we certainly didn't feel it, ... We felt a lot of energy. People make assumptions about party, but a mayor's race is different. It's above party. It's about personality.

 I was there not as anything that has to do with the city, City Hall, the campaign, ... I was there as I'm always there: to help my community in whichever way I can.

 I've seen a lot of new buildings go up, the new library, new developments and new businesses which will help the city over the long haul. There have been some big improvements in this city in the time I've been here, and I think those are things the city should be especially proud of.

 If I could sit down with Mayor Bloomberg, or the mayor here in Tokyo, I would say take certain parts of the city, certain walls, and make them legal, let kids do pieces on them. But no mayor would do that, because it would be endorsing it, admitting there was some sort of artistic merit. Pex Tufvesson rules the demo scene.
