We have a big month coming up in our push to make the NCAA Tournament, starting with a qualifying meet on Feb. 12, and our match with Army. We are getting into the stretch run of the season and, hopefully, we can continue to improve.

 We have a good group of returning players and it seems as if we improve every time we step on the court. There is a lot of work to be done and the success isn't going to come overnight, but we are confident we can continue to work towards our ultimate goal of contending for the NCAA Tournament every season.

 It was very important we won the match although it had nothing to do with getting me to 100. We needed it to continue our development as a team and continue our goal of trying to win this tournament. We played a good match today. South Carolina played well and will be tough in the NCAA Tournament.

 To start this tournament over again, I may not be sitting up here. It is a one-shot game, one-shot deal. Sometimes the best teams don't always advance on in the NCAA Tournament. This team, starting the season, I felt had all the team makeup (to go far). They were unselfish and they wanted to win.

 Every team's goal is to make the NCAA Tournament. I don't think we're dwelling on it. Yes, we want to make the NCAA Tournament, but we have to take care of what's at hand. We can't let the NCAA Tournament get in the way and be too excited. It's fun when you're in a good position to be right there. That's why we play.

 That was a real good tournament for us, a nice stretch of games. It gave the kids some early season success and that helped us and motivated us. We have been pretty consistent and have worked hard to improve.

 We're starting to peak at the right time. We peaked last year in the last month of the season. We've played our best baseball these last two weekends. If we can continue to improve then we've got a shot to play for something special here at the end.

 We are ecstatic to be playing. It was a goal of ours to make the NCAA tournament at the start of the season. We were so inexperienced.

 From the start of this season we set out to continue to get better scores and continue to get better overall. Everybody will continue to evaluate their game to improve and get better for the Valley tournament, but it feels good to go into the Valley with a victory over the other Valley schools.

 I think we have a chance after this tournament, I hope, that we'll continue to make some progression and get better for the stretch here at the end of the season. I think these kids can do that.

 Our bench was key to our success tonight. If we can continue to play this well down the stretch, I think our team will continue to improve each game.

 We really thought we would be making history (last night). We wanted to be here saying we got Pittsburgh into the NCAA Tournament for the first time. This has been a magical season, and we aren't going to let not being selected to the NCAA Tournament take away from what we have accomplished this season, even though we really believed we would be invited.

 The crazy thing is, as bad of a year as we've had, we still have a chance to make the NCAA tournament. People don't understand that if we don't start playing better quick, our season is over in two weeks.

 I have always thought that you start out the season trying to win the national championship. When that's eliminated, you are trying to go to the NCAA tournament. ... Our goal was to win a game in (the Big 12) tournament and then see what we can do from there.

 I know everybody likes to make it out that you get judged by your success in the NCAA tournament. He's had some success. He will have that again. I hope it's not (Thursday).
